Threw in the towel?

It’s more deadly than the flu. When will you morons realize that isn’t the hill to try to die on.

What is the rate of death for Dutch healthcare workers from the flu?

Now that being said, I love this data. But even without this study it’s past time to open up the country. The mortality rate is completely irrelevant. There is no mortality rate that should require us to stay home and destroy the economy. You mistakenly think the mortality rate is the key to this whole thing. That has been my position for quite some time.

Initially I said less than 10k deaths in early March, then revised my predictions to 2X flu about 6 weeks ago, so I probably overshot that. Maybe I'm a doomer?

Despite calling me a moron, I still respect that you aren't denying the data (or running off, never to be seen again) like many others.

The US is over 2x an average flu season tho...

Maybe, flu numbers are spurious and the CDC likes to claim 60,000 per year, but the covid numbers are also spurious with the whole presumptive positive thing.

No they don't

You're falling into the trap many others have of pulling the highest estimated number to justify your position.

You don’t want to get into who was right about what.

Y’all were constantly looking for the next excuse in that thread...

Chinese have more ACE2 receptors
Chinese men smoke more
Air pollution in Wuhan
It will never come the the US
No one will die in the US
Less people will die than the swine flu
People won’t be wearing masks in the US
There won’t be lockdowns in the US

I could keep going but the record is there. I fought back against all those things because the evidence was clear. Don’t go back and cherry pick the things you were right about.

Death Range: 46,404 - 94,987
I picked the mid-range. But keep fricking that chicken.

The US is high end bad flu season (19.5/100k) vs. 15/100k). But individual places (i.e. NY state) are popping off 8x bad flu season, with excess mortality in line with the COVID data (i.e. these aren't just other deaths reclassified).

US average brought down by CA/TX/FL having very high populations but "few" COVID deaths so far.

Louisiana now past 2x "normal" flu season and heading for number 3.

Either way, team "flu" needs to not be anchored to that argument - it implies that if someone were to present data that its worse than the flu you would change your mind, which isn't true.

With the Dutch data, I wonder if that means with strong PPE, their exposure is giving them a small dose of COVID that's not strong enough to kick them off into a serious infection?

Something like the 5% of particulates that an N95 mask will let through is inadvertently vaccinating them. This would also explain why places with heavier outdoor activity (the South during the spring) are not seeing the deaths that the Northeast is seeing, much smaller dose load in ventilated areas compared to NY in Feb/March.

You really are retarded.

You picked the worst influenza season in a decade+ the make your argument that the CDC says what the average is.

That would be like picking 2011-2012 season as evidence that Covid is 5x an average flu season.

That was the only one that I personally posted. And it seems I was incorrect.

The doomers were predicting a list of things as well that were insane.

- 2 weeks behind Italy
- Millions dead in the US
And many, many other insane things.

I could probably run through your post history and absolutely find some things that were incorrect, but I'm not interested in that.

That people with mild symptoms aren't dying? That's nothing new.

I don't think anyone is saying that, but nice try.

There is a pretty huge difference in risk when comparing a controlled rollout (which I'm in favor of for the NOLA metro area) versus opening the flood gates.

Only for the old and those with underlying conditions. That’s it. Just that group. Everyone else, it’s either equal or (like with those younger than 18) much, much less lethal.
