I fricking hate the new nozzels on gas cans.
I also fricking hate how newer cars turn off and have to restart at traffic lights. It's abrupt. It's not smooth. It is annoying as hell.

Actually it was probably a couple of dumbasses who had never used a gas can and didn't realize how difficult the changes have made it.
And to the op. Just take nozzle off and use a funnel.

Outside of drilling holes into gas tanks, the funnel still doesn't fix the issue of the tanks expanding in the garage when it gets hot. When the power went out and I went to go get the generator and the gas can, the can looked like it was about 2psi from blowing up. Never had that problem with the old ones that did everything great in their off the shelf condition.

The kit that I linked has a little fold over cap that is included. It can be closed but will "pop" open if pressure gets high. I only close it if it is in the back of the truck and there is a chance of rain. Even tho the hole is so small I doubt water getting into the can would be a problem. Usually I leave it open for the can to vent.
I have several of those EZ-Pour cans but they DO NOT self vent. I bought a pack of the little fuel breathers and installed on them. The nice thing about the EZ-Pour cans is how easy it is to use them, even the 5 gallon can can be done by one person without spilling any. One hand under the bottom the other on the top to press the green button.

Don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but this whole new gas can thing is partially a result of a lawsuit against some manufacturers from some snowflakes that could not operate a gas can correctly. Part of the settlement was the addition of the new spouts. Some manufacturers had to close up due to the settlement putting them out of business. That is why there is only a few manufacturers left.
