Didn't mind west Texas from San Antonio to El Paso that much. Tucson to Las Cruces was fairly interesting as well.

Denver east to Kansas City is god awful, as is Memphis to Chicago. I never want to do those again. New Mexico from Roswell through Albuquerque to Flagstaff was pretty desolate stuff.

As far as drives I do at least once a year that are the worst... anything involving 65 between Montgomery and Mobile, 10 between Pensacola and Jacksonville, and between New Orleans and Charleston (which covers both of those stretches depending on which way you choose).

The western part of South Dakota is very scenic.

Some of ya saying southern states need to get out for longer drives.

Much of southern Wyoming is barren like the moon..worse than Kansas.

The most boring drive would definitely be out west, probably in Nevada

Nevada has some beautiful country to ride through.

yeah I don't understand the western state answers. all of those states have at least one cool area.

Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa on the other hand...

I've driven the west coast to mid west. Kansas sucks the most by far.

I swear I saw the guy from Family Guy that was selling tumble weeds.

Get on this toll road, missed your exit, that'll be another 5 bucks to make your proper exit.

Texas from Wichita Falls to the NM state line is the worst I've come across.

I love that drive. Great roads in Texas. Plus, it means I'm getting closer to Colorado.

I don't drive very far (I fly if it's a great distance), but from Pensacola to Jacksonville is by far the worst stretch of road I've driven as far as boredom goes.

I guess it's all a matter of opinion but the western states to me are my favorite to ride through, especially the deserts of New Mexico and Arizona. But then there also places in just about every western state from up in the Dakotas, down to Texas, out to the coast of California, and up to Wasington that will just make you pull over and look at how beautiful they are. Hell, take Utah for example. Most people consider it a boring state with nothing of interest. But it's actually got some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see.

Anything on I-70 is terrible. The drive to Wichita or Kansas City from Denver feels like an eternity. I-35 going north or south isn't too bad. Pretty significant change in scenery going from SC Kansas to NE Kansas.

Worst state for me has been Iowa in the winter. Good God that was terrible.

I had left Denver in 2003 headed home. I was on I70 when an F5 was headed across 70. I was at a rest stop when my boss called and told me to go to Withicha. I said NAW and GFYS. That was when an F5 went through Topeka

Yeah! They should tear those trees down and make it concrete or something good to look at!

You just need to know where to go. There are plenty of little towns that offer unique experiences like Yoder and Dexter, home of Henry's Candy Company.

Illinois

I've driven across and up and down pretty much every state, and driving the length of Illinois is my hands down least favorite. I could elaborate why but it should speak for itself. The would be bucolic parts aren't even pleasant in a zone-out and watch the corn go by sort of way.
