Sounds like a shitload more trouble than it is worth. That is why I call my parents or a friend for the rare times I need a ride home. I've got no shame in that.

I don't know what possessed you to post this but, I will say, it's all 100% accurate.
I would add that the interlock device requires you to hum and blow on that little tube every 15 minutes. That made my daily commute a little more shitty for 6 months.

From what I can tell, unless you're innocent or have some good circumstance in your case, there is little to no chance of getting a DUI reduced or dismissed and most first offense DUI cases will go down the same way wether you pay $500 or $5,000 for an attorney.
This isn't necessarily true, but I can imagine a $500 lawyer saying it.

Yeah, that fricker blew, no pun intended. You're always praying that co-workers don't see you blow in it as you leave work. It's so humiliating. Also, if you aren't currently dating anyone, don't plan on going on a date for a year. There is no way you can take a girl on a first date while having to blow to start your car. If there is anyone that should be blowing on a date, it's her. Not in this case.

Thank you for taking to the time to share. I was lucky and never got a DUI when I was younger. Now I won't drive even if I have had only 1 drink.

What day in April? I know the police chief.

You'll most likely be on I-10 at some point too.

I recently got one and lost my job. Worst situation I've ever been in hands down.
I was still in school when I got mine. Glad I learned early on.
Especially with Uber available now, there's just no reason to drink and drive.

The company that makes those devices had some kind of connection to a Louisiana congress person - that's how they got rushed through so quickly. Those things are dangerous.

Good post. I got anxious just reading your post. I am the type that would freak out about all of that. Seems like an enormous hassle

The brutal fact is this is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the true cost and enormous suffering caused by alcoholism.

I did my "community service" through the American Heart Association, and had to get 25 people to download a CPR app to their phone.
