The moment you walk through the gate under the guise of doing business you create potential liability for your company. While its true the badged people are primarily subject to the randoms, and this does happen more frequently these days, anyone can be called into question. I have heard of back office staff - who never left the home office but legitimately logged time on billings for services rendered - being tested.

If your brother is really concerned for his company, and has aspirations of moving ahead in life, he either needs to find a pot friendly career or put down the bong.

Depends on the product but most outside sales guys calling on plants will be closer to 70K.

From a former stoner, who now works in refineries, just tell your bro to ditch the dope. It's not that bad not smoking.

Trust me I would love to still smoke dope if I could, but the fact of the matter is I LOVE money a whole lot more. These plants give me lots of money, so I don't smoke anymore.

If you need admittance to one of the sites that require Active status in DISA, you will be subject to random screening that tests 50% of the pool on an annual basis or approximately 8% monthly.

I've noticed certain vendors now being required to enroll in DISA. (Caterers, Vending Machine suppliers, Copy repair techs, and equipment rental delivery guys) Won't be long before they make sales reps enroll. If you fall.trip, get something in your eye, or nearly set the place on fire, they'll want a test whether you're enrolled or not. If you don't submit, you and possibly your company won't get back in. Stick to the script stuff.

Here's what it is really about. Liability and money.

I've had some candid conversations with plant guys and they would much rather pot be legal because it would allow for at least 100% more skiiled guys in the labor pool.

Isn’t that all hair test?

Hair tests annoy me. Going back 3 months just seems like an infringement on privacy.

I mean, let’s say you went on vacation to Colorado in February and enjoyed something that was legal there. Then in April they want to hair test you.

What business is it of theirs what you did on your personal time, Where it would at no point affect your quality of work. It’s not like they were paying you on your off time.

Piss testing I am fine with.

Same here. but not the plant industry. Came a time when I bought my house and stopped. Some things are just more important.

Not a valid argument. The same could be said that "hey, I smoke it after hours".

Mainly for insurance purposes. Test positive and your rate will increase, dramatically.

I just suggest putting down the joint and picking up the razor and straw.

Coke is out of your system in 48 hours if you're an occasional user plus it's more fun

So if a person smokes some weed at a party and gets tested 2 weeks later s/he tests positive and gets fired. The test for weed looks at metabolites that stay in the body far, far longer than the intoxifying effects of the drug.

This is bullshite.

Depends on the facility. Totally dependent on the facility. Refineries usually require a badge to get in and you arent getting one without a background check and hair test.

Occasional usage isn't detectable in hair. It is detectable in urine only in the first 48 - 72 hours. The whole "fat retains TCH... is b.s. Smoke a little every once in awhile shouldn't be a problem.

crazy lockdown screen which I've heard only about happening once.

When I was in the field I was typically a PM on pipelines but every once in a while would draw a job inside the fence. One day a plant operations dude found some weed in a porta-can and the whole station went on lockdown. Everybody from the poor vendors caught inside, the entire company operations staff, and all subs including us lowly contractors who I am sure they were wanting to pin this on so we could pay for the tab of the drug test as well as down time. Ended up not busting one of our guys, praise Jesus. Turned out to be the poor porta-can cleaner guy.

I would party with you one day but you do an 8 ball by yourself. So unless you're buying, nope.
