Food culture. Unless you're eating Tex-Mex, steak, or BBQ the food culture here is chain based. Not a lot of good "mom'n pop" places to get a good meal. Haven't explored the ethnic centers of Houston yet for Chinese food etc but I have heard good things. Louisiana clearly wins in this regard.
If I excluded Cajun, Italian, or pork BBQ I could say Louisiana is pretty chain based too.
Houston is the most diverse city in America now (not that that’s entirely a good thing) and the Asian restaurants are fricking on point. Craft beers here are exploding faster than anywhere.
I love the food in Louisiana, but you can’t discount Texas cuisines and availability. The two states have to be #1 and #2, it’s slim margin between which is better on any given day.

Texas is severely overrated.
I like Texas and I agree with this.

I mean every other car on the road is an F150 or Chevy Silverado.
What is wrong with this? Why do you care what someone chooses to drive?

The roads suck.
Yeah all my life I heard how Louisiana roads were so bad and Texas roads were great. I literally can't see any difference.

I disagree they have their own thing going on with the tex/ mex illegal thing.

Congrats on the public school system though.

Houston and Dallas
DFW is the fourth largest metro area in the US and Houston will probably surpass Chicago in population in most of our lifetimes, but name two cultural distinctions about those towns.
And no, these don't count:

Houston is already the most ethnically diverse city in the country. Take your pick of cultura distinctions.

To be fair, I haven't explored into Houston for food due to my wife (no pics) having the same palate as a kindergartner. So what she would deem to be exotic food is never a choice. So I'll take your word for it.

I have done it before, not easy, that's for sure

Your story is bullshite, it takes more than one day to drive across Texas.

My man. I don’t have enough upvotes to give you. I drove on I-20 from Dallas to Monroe yesterday and I was screaming at the top of my lungs at those frickers driving in the left lane for 30 miles straight.
It’s crazy, because as soon as I hit the Louisiana border, that shite stops.

Strangely, mine has a limited palate as well (not that bad tho). My own mother had a kindergartner palate tho. Many of the women I’ve met who are married do to. (Not all though)
I wonder why?

This is so myopic it's hilarious because you admit having not explored. mom & pop aren't going to be gobbling up that prized real estate fronting Katy Frwy.
