Why do they have emergency flashers on?

To identify to other drivers they are idiots and don’t feel comfortable operating their vehicle.

Because turning on your emergency flashers let’s you do whatever you want, but it turns it “safe”

Some of those idiots

Because they are, in fact, idiots.

I saw a dumbass in a jacked up GMC going to fast, slammed on his brakes and slid a lane and a half out into traffic.

Almost t-boned me.

Idiots don’t understand go slow, tap brake’s early, let the engine brake for you and coast to a stop on ice.

I’ve laughed way too much reading this thread.
Honestly, slow moving cars just start sliding all of sudden. Bet it has nothing to do with the tread on their tires. It’s just physics like someone else said.
I’d stay off that bridge. That seems like the most logically. Be careful out their Houstonians!

People are idiots... You can tell which ones will lose control just by their speeding.

Like the way the wrecker stops on the shoulder (on the bridge) causing more people to swerve.

Like a Buzzard looking to eat.

I'm from Houston. The 1-2 times we may get ice and with all the rain, they should know better. Must be carpet baggers from California.

People are driving too fast.

Because they are driving too fast, they freak out and hit the brakes too hard. Not going to win that one.

I once did a 360 on an interstate on-ramp without hitting any other cars. I had no idea how to drive in icy conditions, never really had them on the coast. That was a wake up.

Well they are stupid for driving ‘way too fast for the conditions but I have to admit, there are some pretty good recoveries in there.

The last time the roads were iced over in the BR area there were numerous idiots driving normal speeds over the Amite. Saw many of them later up against the guardrail.

New years 2001 we had snow in South LA. I went to the Sugar Bowl. On the way home 2 mustangs were racing on The interstate and the Gramercy overpass was really iced over. They hit it going probably going 90-100 mph. The mustangs started swerving and hit each other then both went into the walls. Looked like a NASCAR wreck with all the parts flying. It was glorious. No one was hurt but both cars had to be totaled.

Was in Houston in January of 2018 when a big freeze hit and roads were iced over. Never forget I was creeping across a bridge over Buffalo Bayou when this young girl who had a football sized opening she could see out of on her iced over windshield came flying by me in the left lane. Her face when she completely lost control was priceless. She got lucky and managed to make it across without smashing into anything.

Houstonians should not be allowed out during ice conditions.
