Not much to it, just a freight train.. there's a rail yard in Livonia.. i use to bring trains from Avondale(close to new Orleans) to Livonia then moved and now bring trains from Beaumont to Livonia.

The Browning Gold from the bar next to Billy's is pretty damn good.

Oh my. That’s now on my list of things to try.

OP, don’t sleep on Mama’s Fried Chicken. Their fried shrimps and okra is pretty damn tasty.

Billy's!

If the line isn't out the door like the past few times I tried to stop.

I have been making this trek back from Lake Charles for the past year. I live in Central so, it is a no brainer to take 190 to the old bridge. I have found so many good places along the way to eat. Check out Bosco's on 190 between Opelousas and Part Barre. Fantastic boudin, cracklin and such. Really good daily plate lunches also.

Not Your Mama's makes the best fried mushrooms I've ever had in my life and I always order fried mushrooms if available.

I've driven that route between Opelousas and BR a good number of times. Obviously, don't speed in the small towns, but otherwise you'll be fine.

I usually stop at Billy's in Krotz Springs. I have heard that Kratchner's is better, but I have not been there. I think both have hot food and frozen/cold items you can bring home.

Can vouch for this.

Also bring an ice chest and stop at Billy's in Krot Springs.

Bring a cooler and stock-up on boudin, andouille, smoked sausage from Billy's, Kartchners. Teets (Ville Platte) is not too far off US190 either.

Got a ticket there about 3 in the morning some years back for 3 over in a construction zone. No workers present. I asked what makes it a construction zone this time of day and he shined his spotlight on a tractor about 50 yards off the road and said “That does.” Texas license =$200.

I had some chicken 'boudin' balls from there a few weeks ago. Was really good. Their twist on Pepper Jack Boudin balls/egg rolls is a homemade jalapeno cream cheese blend. It's spicier and different than most pepper jack boudin balls/eggrolls.

I like em ALLLLL. Billys, Best Stop, Kartchners. nom nom nom
