I know its bound for disaster but my godamn wife wants to go see her grandmother that she hasn't seen in awhile.

Im trying to tell her its an awful idea and we will hit some fricked up weather going thru ATL etc...

She is hard headed and says she is going to go anyway...should I just let her go??

and no pics

Tell her to bring 5 layers and pay for gas. It’s wicked cold all over the southeast for the foreseeable future.

Damn that's a long drive for such a short visit. Buy her a plane ticket?

Send your wife by herself on a road trip in hazardous conditions? Yeah, sure why not.

You can argue with her, bring up a ton of valid points and legitimate arguments to not make such a trip. Even though you’ll be completely right and will be doing what’s safe for her, she’ll proclaim that you’re an a-hole and that you don’t want her to see her family. It’s a no-win scenario.

Buy her a plane ticket. No sense in having her aggravated and driving on the road in bad conditions

Asheville is a great trip. Don't see any precipitation in the forecast through Sunday but it will be cold as hell. That part of NC is a good 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the state, especially this time of year.

Yep. My wife's family is mostly 7-8 hrs away. If she gets it in her head that she's going I either have to go with her or hope for the best. She's going one way or the other.

They can’t analyze a situation rationally and logically and figure out what the best course of action is. It’s not in their DNA.

Every decision is based purely off of emotion and ‘not being controlled’

I make the BR - Asheville roundtrip 3 or 4 times a year. No easy way to get from here to there. Traffic through Atlanta sucks and I-40 from Knoxville to Asheville is a nightmare. Tell her to fly.

Sounds like a pretty awesome road trip. Change your attitude, go make some memories, and make your wife happy. There are some things on life you can't take back, not spending time with grandma is one of them. Can you imagine the hell you'll catch at the funeral as she recalls every detail of every objection that you came up with?

Go see the grandmother. Its not like the snow/ice is going to stick around even if we do get some.

There's an airport in Concord NC, about an hour east of ashville. You can fly from NOLA to there for less than gas on allegiant. Have someone pick her up there and drive her next time, or maybe even this time, it's really cheap.

Best advice you'll get in this thread. And I had sex with your mother. (I feel I earned that)
