Nope, driving to New Jersey on Thursday. Move over.

no issues in the car. Rarely will ride the bike on the interstate

Back in the 70s, while waiting on my job on an offshore rig to open up, I signed on with a mail carrier running between Monroe and Fort Worth.
In those days we still had the 55 MPH speed limit on the interstates and my old Mack had a 55 MPH governor on it quite like many rigs had. The cheaper trucks had no frills such as a cruise control so some had a broomstick cruise on them. Literally a broom stick on the pedal wedged on the seat.
So if a truck had a cruise set to go 56 mph, they would try to pass and maybe a hill may slow them down a half mile per hour.
To your point, the guy in the right lane wasn't giving anything up and the Peterbilt trying to pass would get locked in with a string of cars behind him. So yeah, it could take 5 miles for him to get around.

My FIL will no longer drive on Interstates. He takes the back roads when he plans to go anywhere.

Just let your boyfriend drive

To feel safer you should slow down some and then probably get in the left lane so you aren't coming up on cars so often.
And turn your hazards on.

Not unless you’re referring to letting your mind wander and accidentally hitting one of the abandoned vehicles that you encounter about every 30 miles or so.

No….but I am definetly not as comfortable driving on them any more. I have no problem in a rural setting, but I don’t like them in cities.

I do that with almost any trip that's less than a hundred miles or so. If I'm not a schedule, I always take back roads.

This. I-12 to or from Hammond and beyond.

stay out of the left lane
I'm going 9 mph over the speed limit. If the person I'm passing is going 5mph over, oh well. You'll just have to wait. I'm not slowing down to the speed limit or worse just so you can get to work 5 minutes faster

Louisiana has just been rated #3 in the nation for “aggressive drivers”

I-75 down here in SWFL is a deathtrap. Almost completely straight, no hills; a toddler could drive it. But, the mix of Snowbirds from all over, with different driving styles, old people, etc. makes it feel like the Daytona 500. A girl down here, driving drunk, got pulled over, let go by the cop and went the wrong way on I-75, killing a 96 (NINETY-SIX) year-old man at 4am.

Close to it twice. Very windy and rainy day on I-20, wind coming from the south. I was in a little mazda truck. An eighteen wheeler was in front of me and I decided to get in left lane and pass it. It really wasn't going slow, just about 2-3 mph slower than I wanted. Should have stayed put. When I'm passing I realize the wind coming from around that truck and the truck's normal wind combined wasn't going to let me pass. I glance in my rear view mirror and another dang 18 wheeler is about 2 inches from my back bumper. By an odd coincidence the day before a video of what happens when an 18 wheeler hits a small truck from behind in the same situation, it just disintegrates. After forever, I the 18 wheeler behind me realizes the situation and slows down enough to let me get back in right lane.
Second time was the 3 lane highway between Dallas and Austin. Going 83 in 3 lanes of very heavy bumper to bumper traffic isn't for me. Anytime I tried to leave a car length in between me and the car in front of me, someone would pull over into that space. Happened so often I almost ended up back in Dallas.

This 100%. Driving from ATL to Talladega Monday; it seemed like I had this to deal with every 3-5 miles. Definitely frustrating.
