Just wondering if anyone has driven that way and if it is even possible to drive that in any sort of safe manner?

Why? Just stay in Texas and call it good. Nothing good comes from crossing that state line.

Family member got stopped in kilgore for 6 hours. No movement. He just got a room instead of finishing the drive to cenla.

Considering the roads in Dallas melted today but tonight will be in the low teens, they will be icy in the morning. I would wait until after lunch and it warms up before I hit the road.

If I were going to attempt it, it would be in the afternoon. Let the ice melt a bit and get more ruts to drive in.

I'm not sure about i20, but it i49 just south of shreveport is a complete shite show. Last I heard there were 42 trucks stranded at a truck stop with no water or power. Sheriff dept had to take them water bottles.
