So, building the patio deck around a tree makes it a treehouse?

Right. Because in Montana, having a house above the ground and exposed to sub-zero air temps isn't a very good idea.

Our old house had two build in bookcases where the floor extended beyond the foundation of the house. We put our little dogs bed under one of them and it never slept there in the winter. One day I moved the bed and found out why. There was frost on the floor under the bed. I can't imagine a whole house built that way in a climate colder than where I live...

Does that actually qualify as a tree house?

I don't see how the one in West Monroe does enough business to stay open

so you're saying the house turns into a literal ice cube in winter? i would think temperatures were taken into account with the architecture of home.

plenty of gatlinburg homes are on stilts.

Considering Montana temperatures it seems like free air flow under your house is a poor choice.

Agree. We have a full walk-in heated basement and still had pipes freeze a couple winters ago even with a heater pointed at them.

Re: price: they’ve been trying to make Whitefish into Aspen or JH for years. I don’t really go there anymore. Especially since Glacier has become a gong show and my backcountry trip availability has shrunken w little kids.

I miss the old rough and tumble Big Mountain days. They used to have an awesome Mardi Gras parade.

Not saying it doesn't snow there, Chad.

I'm saying they don't have the same prolonged low temps there, Chad.

But, you know this, Chad.

And are just being obtuse, Chad.
