His argument about the actual mortality based on extrapolating the percent positive rate across the entire US is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard.

I would take anything else this guy says with a huge grain of salt.

My point is you could easily find many more doctors who disagree. What makes this guy's opinion better than the majority? Because you happen to share his viewpoint?

The science is settled, 97% of scientists agree that global warming is real.

All 17 Agencies in the Intelligence community agree, the Russians hacked the 2016 election.

Lather rinse and repeat.

I’m not a statistician. I don’t think WaWaWaWe is either. We both recognized within seconds how dumb the approach was.

Hence, why I’ll take his other points with a grain of salt.

shite if you had a 97% consensus in the scientific community that's basically as much consensus as law of gravity

I'm just bullshite arguing because I'm sitting on my patio grilling with a beer and bored.

I’m guessing Ochsner.

I think the false positive issue is overblown. It exists but there are factors that counterbalance it such as false negatives and people that haven’t developed antibodies yet at the time of the test.

It’s such a blatant and asinine statement that the only explanation for someone of his education is intentional deception.

Now I know he’s only doing it because he is trying to convince people to get back to work, but lying about the issue just creates more problems like distrust of other knowledgeable people.

So like I’ve said all along, instead of lying just tell the truth. The disease is worse than the flu, we got dealt a shitty hand, but we need to get back to work or it’s going to get much worse for us. It really doesn’t matter what the mortality rate is, that is still true.

They then used this number to say 19% of the entire country has COVID.
Yep. In are February and early March, like 90% of tests were positive. So using his logic, about 300 million has covid-19 about 8 weeks ago, but now we’re down to about 60 million.

In other words, it’s obviously poor logic. And anyone who didn’t question it, might want to reconsider taking his word.

Youtube removed his video! It doesn't fit their agenda. It's the equivalent of book burning. Anybody know if the video is available anywhere else?

Hospitals and state governments have a financial interest in inflating Covid numbers

Hospitals are losing money at an alarming rate because of the COVID response. On a day to day basis, hospitals make the majority of their income from elective procedures. Now, they may be relying of some form of bailout money connected to COVID because of the way this response was handled, but they do not have an interest in inflating the numbers. If you know a doctor or administrator, ask them. They will tell you that they would much prefer to go back to making more money.

They're pissed because they didn't get to sign off on the information Erickson released.

When the mathematics principal he got wrong is fundamental to understanding the medical opinion he's pushing, it certainly does.

.

Yes. He should 100% get to speak and not be censored.

That being said there are a lot of legitimate questions about the way he extrapolated his data, as well as his biases.

Government giving bailouts to states that stay locked down. No way that gets abusesd.
Government paying out 20% more for positive and presumptive positive cases. No way that gets abused, especially in this environment of no elective procedures.

I totally agree with you. But, hospitals stand to make more money if things returned to normal.

That would be nice, but that is not going to happen so they have make-do with what they have.

ETA: The implication being that people die of heart disease and diabetes everyday (about 1,800 heart disease deaths everyday and 200 diabetes). If someone in there dies of heart disease they get X dollars from Medicare. If they are presumptive positive for covid they get X + 20%. Doesn't take a prophet to forsee what happens from here.

gomerblog

These two are the brunt of the joke on gomerblog.

Their data is flawed and they are being denounced by the two largest emergency medicine professional associations in the US. Healthcare providers have a responsibility to the public to provide accurate and unbiased information regarding Covid-19.

Yea, Erickson is not a good source for sure. But the pendulum swings both ways. There have been a few threads on here about people being labeled a CV19 death and family members have disputed that.
