A couple of brothers who supplied ice cream mix stopped by, and somebody poured a swirl of ice cream on paper, stuck a stick in it and dipped it into chocolate. “Somebody said that's really a dilly,” and the name stuck,

They still sell that stuff?

When I was a kid they had a whole section devoted to that stuff but I thought they had phased it out. The big FF money is getting you in to buy a burger but selling you soft drinks and fries

Dilly, Texas of course.

Really though, I didn't know they were called Dilly bars outside of Texas.

Here is a true story.

One of my first jobs was working in the warehouse that supplied all the DQ's across CO, NE, OK, IA and MO. This wS 35 odd years ago and this place no longer has the contract. Anyway - my first day on the job they hand me a broom and some stuff to keep dust down and send me to the top floor of the warehouse (this is where boxes of ice cream cones and stuff like that were stores).

My job - sweep up bat guano because there was an infestation of them living there. There was shite everywhere. I spent a week up there cleaning it all up.

I haven't eaten at a DQ since.

When it was accidentally created in 1955 someone looked at it and said "it's really a dilly". Yeah, that's just how they talked in 1955.
