The tallest building in NO in 1963 was the Hibernia Bank Tower... 
That’s not like some crazy development...

Yeah, I mean here’s Atlanta in 1960:
Most of the South was not quite urbanized until fairly recently. Hell, for some years, the Louisiana State Capitol Building was the tallest building in all of the Old South.

Considering almost every city in Texas (or the South/West in general anyways) is growing like Austin is, I would say Columbus's growth is actually MORE impressive! I have actually lived in both Austin and Columbus and i like Columbus considerably more. Columbus is literally surrounded by cities bleeding population like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Detroit, Chicago, Toledo, Dayton, Buffalo, Milwaukee and on and on, so i find it remarkable that Columbus has not only been able to avoid the same fate, but is actually BOOMING! Columbus is one of the best kept secrets in all of America. Truly a great city in my honest opinion.
