Pretty much verbatim what I was saying here at the office earlier when we were talking about it. Something like this has to have a strong incentive component to work. Having HOV lanes (at least two people in the car) during rush hours with cops handing out tickets like candy would be a decent step in the right direction in convincing people to carpool as well as raise revenues for the city. At even $50 per infraction that inside lane would open with the quickness.
And while the cops are there they could keep an eye out for assholes texting while driving.

yeah, that's not gonna work...there should be an amtrak that goes back & forth from br to nola...they can name it "death train".

What? Better things to use the money on?
Litter abatement
Filling potholes
Adding turn lanes to busy intersections that don't currently have them
There's three ideas right off the top of my head that would improve the quality of Baton Rouge's roads more than this program.

This is literally doing nothing. DOTD didn't expand infrastructure, did't provide HOV lanes, didn't provide bike lanes, didn't provide commuter rail. They didn't even provide a new idea.
It's a website that quite literally does nothing.

State of Louisiana has an anti-litter program as well as statewide maintenance with contracts to remove it from state highways.

Why pay money for something that could be done for free? I used to work at DOTD HQ and a good number of workers carpooled. I just don't understand why everyone just complains no matter what. If it's so simple, you come up with the great idea that can actually be implemented.

So when I name 3 things those don't count as ideas?
My entire point was that whatever money was spent on this initiative would have been more useful by supplementing funding to litter abatement or road maintenance. Don't think that's a shocking statement.
But feel free to be butthurt over the fact that I am extremely skeptical with this initiative's potential for success.

I am too.
I tried to think about the circumstances in which I would actually carpool daily to work.
A coworker would have to literally live in my neighborhood, and be somebody I was friends with outside of work. Even then, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of "Hey i'm outside.." "..I need to leave work early today, can you find a ride home?" "I need to go grocery shopping after work, but need to drop you off first".
Yeah, there is no way I'd carpool to work with anybody daily.

Spending money attempting to get people to car pool without any sort of benefit is literally a negative, so yes in this instance I'd rather they do nothing.
