It doesn't take 2 days to remove a trailer carrying a hazardous substance.
Accident was at 4 pm Monday. We aren't even at 48 hours yet. Took some time to put out the fire and secure the scene. Waited until sunlight to really start removal efforts (this is worth suggesting that it should have been sooner, maybe they were worried about working at night with the structural concerns).
So really, cleanup started Tuesday morning with removal of the major pieces of the crash and went from there.
This crash happens on land and not over water, the interstate is reopened by Tuesday AM at the latest. I don't think people understand the challenges caused by this being over a bridge.

The real answer is the state is too cheap to hire actual disaster and debris cleanup contractors on retainer. Instead, they hire their cousin’s company that has a rented backhoe, one dump truck, and 4 temp agency employees.

Suggest a barge that ferries people. Should be an engineering possibility.

Obviously not suggesting they aren't doing anything at all. I'm saying that they're inefficient just like everything else in this state.

My suggestion would be the crossovers...but that's likely too easy.
Could you imagine the backup this would cause. Might as well just leave it closed in that case

I thought they have several ER contractors on standby.

They’re either inept, or being handcuffed by some bureaucrat if the site is still being cleaned up.

Rosedale is a life saver

No. Like I said...the contractor is inept/inefficient and doesn’t have the tools/manpower to complete the job in a timely fashion. Or the state is needlessly handcuffing their process.

The state doesn't hire cleanup contractors. That is up to the responsible party, or their insurance carrier, on who they hire.

What is your basis for this statement?
Are you on-site?
Do you have experience in this field?

UPDATE
quote:
The westbound portion of Interstate 10 over the Atchafalaya Basin should reopen Wednesday afternoon, a Department of Transportation and Development official said.
Bill Oliver, DOTD engineer administrator, said the Butte Larose Fire Department is washing the deck, and the HAZMAT contractor is waiting for a bin to be delivered from Lake Charles to collect contaminated sand and ash from the site. Once this is done, the inspection can be completed and the roadway reopened.

I guess another option would be that you have no idea what you’re talking about. And bridge inspection, hazardous materials, and debris removal are not anything you have any kind of background in or know anything about.
Complaining is fun though.

It doesn’t take 42 hours to clean up the wreck in the photos unless someone doesn’t have the right equipment, manpower, or process.

Many factors here, this was 3 separate incidents as well as a fatality.
Also have to deal with hazmat and possible river contamination.

I'd like to see some type of engineering marvel put in place to allow accidents to be bypassed. Something like a movable barge supporting a roadway. it's amazing that we allow travel to stop for days on an interstate.
I'd really love to see a parallel road constructed just for semis to drive on.
