I hope the toll booths are located at Popeyes on Enterprise

It seems like everytime KPLC sends a news alert on the app they send one 30 minutes later with a corrected version

1) this bridge I would not think would be as high or as long as a MS river bridge
2) should we be better with construction techniques these days?
The twin spans replacement took 4 years.

The pictures I've seen have it right next to and even over the rail road tracks in westlake, so a little further north than biolab

The tolls will increase traffic on 210 and shortening the life of the 210 bridge.
All part of the great plan... by shortening the life of 210, they can more quickly build a new 210 with tolls as well.

Holy frick how about a bridge to Plaquemine. Notice how that shite was shot down when the governor race got started. fricking corrupt Louisiana please never change (that's sarcasm)

Preliminary construction on the project may begin as early as this year (2024) and is anticipated to take approximately seven years to complete. Once construction is finished, Calcasieu Bridge Partners will operate and maintain the new bridge for up to 50 years.
frick, I might have to go through this clusterfrick twice in my lifetime?
That doesn’t seem like very good ROI.

That toll ain't goin away, ever - itll just keep getting more and more expensive just like the i-65 bridge in Louisville. Landry just created a new tax stream out of thin air without it being labeled a tax.
I don't think there's been a toll road in the country where they removed the toll "once the road was paid for"
I can't wait to the year 2045 in Louisiana when each bridge in the state will have a different public/private partnership running it and thus all have a different sticker that you have to put on your windshield if you sign up for their elecronic tolling/discount program instead of one system that just works for the state.
"Damn, I only have $2 in my Causeway toll account, but I have $15 in my Atchafalaya Basin Bridge account (presented by Tampax) and $20 still in my Lake Charles Bridge account"

This doesn't seem like it should take seven years. like three tops.
Well there’s going to be soil stability issues that will catch everyone by surprise and then we’ll have to pump a couple of barges worth of gorilla glue down into the soil and wait a year for it to harden… throw in a hurricane passing through the area during construction and you can see how this will drag out for 7 years.

First time as a kid thinking the I-10/LC Bridge was the Steepest most intimidating bridge i was about to drive up on!
I am bummed that LC will demolish the Office Tower damaged by Hurricane Laura. That was a Iconic / Tall building on the lakefront. Will anything go in it's place?

Sunshine Bridge
Once this project is completed I-10 will be 6 lanes from Columbus, TX all the way to the US-165 exit east of Lake Charles. About 230 miles of I-10.

7 years = at least 10 years with this incompetent group of idiots in charge.

Seven years could be reduced to 7 weeks if they hired some Chinese engineers and Mexican contractors.
You’re leaving out cutting all the “consultants” on this job. Aka gov family members. This corrupt state will never advance. Meanwhile Texas is light years ahead next door. Alabama is big time on the come up. Pathetic

I didnt realize this project included more than the bridge. Still, 7 years seems like an excessively long time. 3-4 years I could see.
Does the 7 years include the design phase? A lot of these projects have years of development before all construction can begin
Posted on 8/16/24 at 7:11 am to stout
took one year to build the empire state building almost 100 years ago.
now it takes 7 to build a bridge.
