Even if you're getting shorted a couple of pounds you're still paying much less than if you were buying from the store.

No shite... I had two guys from Rayne in my neighborhood a few years ago selling shrimp. I can't remember the details but when I told them to take all the ice and water out of the bag before they put it on the scales those dudes looked at me like I killed their puppy.

I've never seen a door to door shrimp salesmen in Terrebonne/Lafourche Parish. They normally post up on the side of the road and sell them. I have an Uncle that owns a dock and a few good buddies that trawl for a living so getting shrimp is never a problem.

I certainly hope my kitchen staff have not been taken advantage of in this manner.

I'll send Geoffrey off to the servants quarters to question them immediately. Geoffrey may even use white, but not the silver, Rolls to reach that distant section of the estate!

But, selling door to door per # is a sure fire way to take advantage of people if they believe you scale is set right. Many door to door's are shady as frick and have rigged scales.

yeh i imagine many don't know what a good deal is...we usually buy for less than $3 lb and have a pretty good idea how many pounds an ice chest holds

You don't?

Sometimes you got to weigh portions and a scale is very helpful for that.

A champagne basket hold 60lbs of shrimp. Each ring is about 5lbs, it takes 7lbs to cover the bottom, 15lbs to get to the top of the first ring. That's on the 4th grade LEAP test in Terrebonne Parish.

Roughly a pound per quart when you factor in ice. 40 lbs iced lightly will fill a 48 quart ice chest slap full.
