Door problem

There is a door in my house that will not stay fully open. It will always close about half way. This bugs the crap out of me. Is there any thing I can do to get this door to stay open short of putting a block in front of it?

About your only option is to re hang it - what has happened is, over time it's sagging against the hinges (or the hinges are sagging against the doorframe). (ETA: Or, as others have suggested, you have a foundation settling problem.)
I mean, if you want to try tightening the shite out of all the hinge screws, that might help - but you're probably fighting a fatal disease.
But, rehanging the door might be a permanent fix.

It is a 50 year old house in Louisiana so I am sure the foundation is less than idea. However, there don't seem to be any other serious issues so if that is my only other solution I will go with using a doorstop.

I've fixed that problem on a couple of doors by inserting some pieces of construction paper behind the lower hinge. The idea is to get the hinges plumb.

Somebody set the door and didn't plumb the frame before shooting it up. You can pull the trim off one side and see if you can pry it over at the top and run a screw or two in the header. You can try to shove the bottoms over in the direction the door is closing too and put screws in at the toes. Unfortunately there aren't many good trim carpenters out there that know how to set a door properly. I see shite work in houses all the time and it doesn't matter if the house was $150k or $1.5M.

Yeah, that is likely my only practical solution. Unfortunately, I am way too lazy to do something like that for a minor inconvenience so I will just learn to live with it.
I was hoping for an answer like "tighten the top hinges and loosen the bottom hinges" or something.

Serious simple answer:
Get a couple 4 or 4 1/2 inch pan headed wood screws (preferably square drive.). Remove the center screw on the door hinges on the middle and top hinges. Starting with the middle hinge, replace with the long screw and draw it tight with the drill driver. Do the top, then check your door swing. Adjust as needed.

Take the hinge pins out and bend them slightly with a hammer. Put pins back in and the bend will cause more friction on the hinges.

WD40 and experiment with strategically placed lead tape under the door. If you need more weight to balance it towards open you can unhinge the door and drive some screws in the bottom for permanent weight.

Doors are exclusionary and only serve to keep others out. These will be more inviting and spread healthier vibes into your dwelling.

That's how you fix bad margins or a sticking door. If you've got a door that's leaned in or out and causing it to swing then that isn't going to help much if at all.
