After working several summers in a plant I chose to go a different route and would never turn back. It's a great living if one wants to stay in La I guess, but love never having to describe my job by hours worked or schedule I'm on.

Now I do automation (we make things like robots that replace the sweaty humans at McDonald's). Very challenging and satisfying work.

Went in one recently and ALL of the kiosks were dead.
I'm sure they'll still frick up orders using those, too.

I haven't worked in a "plant" the likes of which you're probably referring to since 2008

But I'm still in the industrial world. Thankfully I've had a light 40 hour work week for the last few months.

I don’t. I’ve worked for Cameron valves and a chemical plant. Hated them both. Not built to piss away my life sitting on a stool and press a button

Work in a plant but I'm a mechanic. Day shift Monday through Friday. I make the plant money without having to do shift work

ChE drop out. Mainly because I was on a lazy streak my sophomore year and partially because I didn’t want to work in a plant. Those guys earn what they make.

I work in commercial banking now, mostly from my home office so no regrets.

Last time I worked in a Petrochem plant was the summer after I graduated from college in Electrical Engineering...I couldn't find any entry level engineering jobs in La..so I hired on with Fluor Daniels as a pipefitter (I had done that previously). That was in 1996.

Been working Government jobs ever since...no money..but there is stability.

EE......NASA.......no money.....

Well, through my limited deduction, prestige is a nice consolation prize.
