According to Evelio Marquez's arrest report, the girl, who gave birth at Tulane Lakeside Hospital in Metairie on March 2, told an NOPD detective she was 16 when she got pregnant. Marquez was 39, the report said.
The girl identified Marquez as her boyfriend to the detective, and said the child was conceived in June 2014, according to his arrest report.
An NOPD detective returned to the hospital on March 4, he received a birth certificate signed by both the girl and Marquez, according to the report. Marquez's signature certified he was the biological father.
While the detective was at the hospital, Marquez arrived. He was arrested and taken to NOPD headquarters.
