Who even gets alimony any more?

California has some insane divorce laws. After 10 years of marriage you can get alimony for life.

First of all it makes no sense to me that courts are able to justify this much money for child support and alimony payments. It makes no sense to me. No one needs that much money to live a reasonable life and raise a child. It's absurd.

Judges are even worse about basing professional athletes' child support payments off a salary that they will only be able to make for a few years. It's like they want to punish the fathers with bankruptcy and make sure they are completely drained and can't make the payments for the whole 18 years.

but the singer/actor only grosses $112,000 a month.

Second of all. Only $112k per month. Yeah. I imagine there are business expenses that go along with promoting his brand. I would be curious to see where all the money is going. A person should be able to live on only over $1.3 million gross a year.

Yep, always thinking about the next step up the ladder, its a simple case of never being content no matter what. Allen Iverson and David Hasselhoff should get together.

Agreed. Not sure how $252,000 isn't enough. If its supposedly to be a percentage of his income, then so be it, adjust the alimony relative to his current income.

I read this on Yahoo yesterday and that is what amazes me about this story. They split custody of the two daughters, one stayed with him and one with her and both are mid-20s now and the ex wife is still wanting 250k a month in alimony after 10 or 11 years. What justification is there that you should pay infinite alimony to an ex unless she was 100% behind him attaining money, even then they should settle on a 1 time settlement.

An attorney who sees David Hasselhoff and an ex-wife with nothing to show for the rest of her life except being married to David Hasselhoff once.

I can't imagine how sick the celeb attorneys in LA are, lots of drew rosenhaus types.

Hasselhoff comes across as a little bitch, and he's been this way for like the past 20-30 years. He's always crying about something, when the truth is he's a talentless baboon who got far luckier in life than he deserved. I'd probably give him a good kick in the crotch if I ever saw him. I mean, quit yer bitching and crying fuh Chryssake.

staying relevant in the entertainment industry is expensive. you have to pay for the right memberships and donate (large sums) to the right charities. you have to attend and throw the huge parties. all of these things are expensive and are necessary to stay in the right social circles

This is the type of story that could inspire a Tool song touting the destruction of California in a giant earthquake.

California has always aligned it's society against man/woman marriage, and traditional family structure. This actually does not surprise me.

PS: frick California.

If he's spending $500k a year to do that, then he deserves everything he gets. Which will ultimately be the whirlwind. (Didn't he try to commit suicide a few years ago?).

If he was anything like a real, grounded person, he'd take his $1 million annual residuals check, assign it to a PO Box in Idaho, build a cabin, and go fricking fishing for God's sake.

Yeah but it's not like the guys couldn't sign a pre nup, they know the type of girl they are marrying. Furthermore, as said the Hof was caught doing the dirty and most likely could be paying a lot less with a better Lawyer and being less of a scumbag while married.

If he's going to be that much of a douche to cheat while married with kids and that beta to allow her to get that much money, he deserves it IMO.

Way to make it sound like he's paying twice what he makes when in reality he's paying her 1/6 of what he makes.

Fixed it:

That said, alimony is a fricking stupid concept.
