Couple of mothers were carjacked in the carpool line in separate incidents I’ve heard.
Coming from someone that lives in a small piney tree town in Louisiana.. this is the most insane thing I've read this morning. Can't even begin to comprehend that this is possible.

That’s because it didn’t happen. Don’t get your information from someone who heard and is a notorious liar on this site.

But the Catholic Schools in NOLA were always there to serve the middle class. They are pricing themselves out of the middle class.
A school has to cover a lot now. They now have to employ security guards, safety systems, more counselors (mental health, guidance, etc..), benefit package premium increase for employees, technological implementation, etc...

there are tons of kids cant get in bc of their scores....has nothing to do with numbers....they have the seats....but they cant take some kids bc of scores...not to mention to HAVE to live in Orleans Parish to attend Lusher.....I'm not sure about Hynes, Audubon and BF
editied...I meant Hynes
Was referring to kids getting into the catholic schools, not the public magnets

Are you saying you have to live in Orleans to go to Haynes?

Not white confederate leaders. Perhaps some other crackers could get their name on a street sign though.

Not many threads get the OT wired up like a good old New Orleans high school thread.

Plus technology, etc
I get it.
That doesn't change the fact that they are pricing themselves out of the middle class.
Especially, if your child is good enough to get into a good magnet school. 25 years ago, schools like Haynes and Thomas Jefferson weren't an option.

Well said. Who would have thought that a simple observation about an all girls HS in NOLA would turn into 17 pages.

Everything is pricing out the middle class. I think likely the parameters of middle class has changed.

17 pages about the incoming 8th grade class at an all-girls Catholic school

It's actually been a pretty good thread by OT standards until about two pages ago, now the shite slinging has started.
And then you have the folks who don't read the thread, just the OP, who feel the need to chime in and comment on stuff that has been discussed many times (example being the BS about the carjacking story).
Quick summary from my POV. The demise and wokeness aspect of DHS has been greatly exagerated by some in this thread. It's still a great school. MCA is just as good.
Chappel is on the rise and good for them.
