The vaccine was rushed way too fast because vaccines take years of trials before being approved.
I didn't trust it and was fortunate my employer didn't require it.

Back in the late 60s my school had a Porter Wagoneer and Dolly Parton 2 day benefit concert. The baseball team I was on worked the concert...I had the honor of being the person to open the door for her when she came out of her dressing room onto the stage and back to dressing room. She was nice to this 17 year old...and this before she became famous.
It feels like a part of Tennessee died with her....RIP Dolly.

One Dolly is worth a thousand other "stars". Very few like her. Makes me think of Jimmy Stewart.

I don't know why, but I'm really surprised by all of the people that seem to be just learning Dolly wrote, and recorded I Will Always Love You. I thought that was common knowledge. But for thosr just learning that, or don't know much about the song, I'll blow your mind with the story behind it.
When Dolly was getting started in the industry, female solo artists were somewhat of a rarity. Outside of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Tammy Wynett most female artists were either part of a group or attached to male artists to sing backup and duets.
After her first album was released Dolly was offered the chance to be the co-host and "girl singer" for the syndicated television show hosted by country star Porter Wagoner. Dolly was a part of his TV show and toured with him for I think close to a decade, having both solo hits and duet hits with Wagoner. It was becoming obvious that Dolly's star was rising on her own, so she made the decision to leave and go out on her own, but she didn't know how to tell Wagoner that she was leaving his show. She sat down and wrote I Will Always Love You to tell him thank you for supporting me and helping me grow my career, but you need someone else as your girl singer.
Such an amazing song, and it has nothing to do (in the genesis of it) with romantic love. Oh, and she also wrote Jolene on the same day.

I went to trivia last night (in TN) and every song between rounds and questions was Dolly, a cover of Dolly, or a song written by Dolly.

Don't have time to search and link it but Vince Gill telling the story about his dad meeting Dolly is pretty funny. Definitely worth the watch.

Charlie Daniels"s son wrote a piece about working in a Knoxville recording studio when Dolly came in to record some Sevierville tourism spots. He said that his memory is that between takes she would just make up new tag lines that of course would never be used like "Come to Sevierville and help wipe the pigeon shite off my statue."

Will be interesting how many college bands do a tribute to Dolly at some point this year. I saw the band at Buckenham Palace did.
