I get the point but people who shop at DG regularly don’t buy fresh produce anyways.
They’re good for being near a deer camp or something and you needing some beer, drinks, hot dogs, eggs and a couple frozen pizzas for the weekend at the camp

Can you help me get a job at Dollar General

They carry the brands we know and love. Nothing wrong with DG when you're in a hurry.
Yea the brands are mostly the same as wal mart but expiration dates a lot of times are only a few days away. Like I said it’s good if you’re at camp or live in a rural area and forgot toilet paper or a bottle of ketchup at the supermarket and don’t want to drive 20 min away

Dollar Generals are frequently found at the heart of “food deserts”, defined by the department of agriculture as a rural community where one-third of residents live more than 10 miles from a grocery store selling fresh produce.
My place on the TX/LA line has a choice now of Dollar General, Family Dollar on the LA side for higher sales tax, or DG on the TX side for half price milk/dairy and 3% lower sales tax or due to isolation a Brookshire Brothers overpriced crappy quality fresh produce/meats grocery store. All within 5 miles.
Next closest is about 20 miles to either WalMart or more overpriced poor quality produce/meat grocers. Try carrying BlueBell ice cream or other frozen goods home in Summer heat even in a cooler about 20 miles on crappy LA bust an axle roads.

Then there's the urban food deserts where workers run a greater risk of stabbings, shootings, curb stompings to/from/during work and owners run the constant risk of looting at all times.

Alabama you could be running through the woods and stumble into one.
I’ve driven in areas where there wasn’t even a small community for 10-15 miles in any direction and round a corner and oh look a dollar general

I went in to Family Dollar to see if they had a deal on cat litter, because I’m sick of paying $12 bucks at Publix, and especially since I’m the one who has to change that shite! The only thing I came away with is a shite load of Lance Lemon Creme cookies. Not the Nekot, but the crispy cookie. Can’t find them anywhere and they are fantastic if you are a lemon head. The mind games they are playing with the rural public is shitty.

Haven't been to a Dollar General since me and my friends had to go buy solo cups for beer pong while in Gulf Shores

bullshite.
Lack of self control and the fricking food pyramid underpins the obesity and diabetes crisis.
Government says "eat 3 meals a day... oh and by the way you should eat a bunch of carb heavy foods to keep your energy up and stay sharp." IOW, "keep your insulin levels high all day long, nevermind what that does to your HGH, testosterone, and whatever other hormones are affected by insulin." Now liberals bitch about the consequences of that shitty advice... and want more government money to fix the government problem.

Ft Morgan road or Hwy 181 in Alabama is 18 miles long. They are opening a 2nd Dollar General location in a few months.

Dollar General sucks. I have a 25 minute drive to work and pass two gas stations, one fast food restaurant, a couple lumber places, and three Dollar Generals.

They have a really great jingle. Who says a dollar wont buy much anymore

Agreed.
Probably stop in one every 2-3 months. Convenient to where we live, and quick in/out.

They have one on the way to Dauphin Island on the corner of 188 and 193. It is probably decent money maker during the Summer as that is pretty much it unless you want to drive to the outskirts of Mobile or Bayou La Batre.
I have an aunt that lives not to far from that store.
I am waiting for DG to take a chance and build one on Grand Isle. They can elevate it like one in Waveland. I saw one that was built on top of about 10 feet of fill with a sloping parking lot.
It still doesn’t beat the Burger King and McDonalds in Long Beach that look like they were built on top of a mini mountain of fill.
DG would be hard to beat the Sureway on the island with its Grocery, alcohol, hot food, tools, lumber, plumbing, paint, toys, souvenirs, and more concept.

They’re a great convenient option in many rural areas. Where some of my relatives live had one open recently and it is my go to for a beer run when I’m there. Cheaper than the gas stations, which were the only other option. And it saves me from driving 10-15 miles to the cities in either direction.

This.
I have to travel some pretty desolate stretches in LA and MS. A number of those have damn near nothing for miles then a bright shiny new Dollar General. These are areas where you would still have to travel a good 30 miles to Natchez, Fayette, McComb, and/or Brookhaven, several of which are still pretty small even by MS standards.
