stick with it. don't use any creamer in your coffee btw. no calories.

it's a good habit to develop. that's really all it is. it gets easier. cleans up your gut, which in turn clears your mind. also good for toxins, weight loss, etc.

i do it several times a year for the past 18 or so years.

I did three days leading up to a chemo treatment. My oncologist was blown away by how well I responded to chemo. Could be coincidence, but autophagy and apoptosis are real. 8 years cancer free.

And beta-hydroxybutyrate is a wonderful natural “drug.”

Fasting is incredible. Like many of us I am not perfect and have failed at it over and over. But, the times I stuck through for 48-96 hours I slept so much better, felt so much better, ate so much better, and felt incredibly confident, Those who have’t tried it should simply go in small steps.

For me, as the great Dr. George Sheehan said, “an experiment of one”. Anything to do with health is an experiment of one. You control what and how much you put in your mouth and your physical activity. That’s it. You control it all.

We all know what is right and wrong. Dr. Berg and others in different fields simply hold up mirrors on different facets of life. There are so many benefits to fasting it’s incredible. I know because I’ve failed and succeeded and can see the drastic differences.

I developed skin rosacea pretty bad at one point in my late 40’s after having good skin genes my entire life. I went tot the dermo who diagnosed me, gave me some cream, etc. Nothing worked. Around that time is when I discovered fasting and got serious in the gym. The minute I cut out sugar/processed food and started fasting here and there it went away. And when I fail and have 5 mountain dews, cake, brownies, ice cream, etc over a month of failure it comes back and disappears again when I start over. The point is we all know we eat/drink poison every day in our American culture. All we can do is use what we already know to try and not let it kill us.

Fasting is one of the best things you can do for your body. There is a study out there showing men increased their hgh by 20x and when up to 16x after just 24 hours of fasting. I try to do one meal a day intermittent fasting and it works well for me. I need to get back to doing a legit fast for a day or two.

I guess I could get by on a couple of Celsius and some coffee with creamer.

The video says no to anything with calories. Creamer would have calories.

I've done fasts before and the first 3 days are brutal and I gave off a weird odor that my family noticed.

You sound like you have some experience doing this. Question for you and others, how long have you been doing this?

The 72 hour fast has flooded my twitter timeline lately and I am very interested in the purported benefits of a gut reset.

But I am also wary of the latest viral fads that flood my timelines. Either way I’ll be doing my own research.

Why starve your body? Spiritual / Religion aside, design of human body and starving it makes no sense. Don’t fall for gimmick bs.

Eat well, hydrate, move, sleep well, get sunlight. Do this everyday.

Slip in a splurge now and again for fun sake.

Start with your mindset. This is not a thing to do. This is investing in yourself and how you live.

You can do it!

Is it fasting or eating less / less frequent / lower bad calories over time moreso than fasting per se?

Don’t forget confounding variables of right foods, hydration, sleep, movement and sunlight.

Life is a system.

Yep. It has its benefits but immediate long term weight loss is not one of them. Also because immediate and long term don't really go together.

Just like when starting a keto diet. The first 5-10 lbs are water.

Fasting and dieting are very different things. Your body is using two different metabolic pathways.

Dieting is about a caloric deficit. Your body is still mainly fueled by consumed foods.

With fasting your body will burn stored sugar, then stored fat and excess proteins. Yes, long term fasting without exercise may lead to muscle loss.

Yes it does. Glycogen…a complex carbohydrate.

Ummmm what?

Glycogen is stored in the liver and muscle cells for fast energy. Metabolism 101.

When this is depleted (by fasting and/or exercise) the liver produces sugar by breaking down fat in a process called gluconeogenesis. It can be said fat is sugar storage.

Lot of experts chiming in. Fasting is not starving. Yes you’re hungry af but that’s the point. The body depletes glycogen and burns ketones. This has a ton of health benefits from immune cells, the gut, the brain (possible decrease in Alzheimer’s. Cerebrospinal fluid drains and refills, may remove toxins. Communities that fast don’t have metabolic disease or dementia at the rate of Americans. Could be our processed foods also) and dozens of other reasons besides losing weight.

You should look into not doing that. Intermittent fasting, or a feeding window that ends atleast 3 hours before bed.
