Same. Someone on here recommended Victor a while ago and my dog has been on it ever since.

A buddy of mine is a vet. He recommended Hill's Science Diet year's ago. Took his advice and been using it ever since. No problems whatsoever.

I wonder if Victor's would be alright for a large breed puppy. Most recommend a large breed formula since normal formula can contain too much calcium and phosphorus. This leads to problems in the long run for bigger breeds.

Beneful. He's a mutt, it's cheap and he's still healthy after 11 years.

Lots of vets recommend science diet, since Hills typically provides them low cost food in return

You definitely want large breed specific food.

My Coonhound likes Science Diet but she's really not that particular. She's also keen on Large Breed Milkbones as well as Meaty Bones.

Yeh... i bounced around with brands b/c my GSP basically shite soft serve with the normal stuff. Breeder fed Pro Plan, but it gave him lose stool. I had to call some companies to find out what puppy food I could feed. Most of the better brands have too much calcium and can inhibit growth of large breeds. I fed blue buffalo puppy with no issues with the stool etc. I know feed Acana Pacifica. shite smells like dead fish, but he loves it and his coat and digestive system is great. I did find this brand at Jefferson Pet Mart called hollistic and he did well on it for a bit, but he skin/coat werent as good as I'd like it. It's half the price of the Acana and think about switching back every time I spend $72 on a bag of food.

My sister feeds a pack of foxhounds - not sure what she uses but you don't go $72 per bag when you're buying a ton or so of dog food a month.

I have a 15 mo. old female Shepherd puppy. I've had to switch several times due to sensitive stomach. Started with Taste of the Wild Pacific Trail - she liked it, but had chronically loose stools with it. Have settled on Merrick Grain Free Duck and Sweet Potato. I feed her this with a little bit of Royal Canin High Energy Gastrointestinal formula mixed in. At night I give her Cottage Cheese or Greek Yogurt for a snack and raw beef a couple of times a week. She is 73 lbs, rangy and lean with a beautiful sable coat.

This breed has a rep for having sensitive digestive systems - that I have found to be the case, but have found the right formula for mine. GSDs are hard to beat as a breed, mine comes from an West German working line, and is high energy with a very strong prey drive, but has a very gentle and sweet disposition, quick to learn and very alert and wary of her surroundings without being neurotic.

I feed my dog Fromm's large breed. No complaints. Also a better price than Natures Balance and the other premium no bullshite brands.

Solid gold - barking at the moon for one dog and exclusive - some sort of performance food. Idk type. The place where we buy it keeps that information on a card.

These were recommended by our trainer and we have seen great results with the solid gold curing some skin allergies in one dog and the exclusive keeps my other lab in top form.

Ol' Roy from Wal-mart. It's the best you can get.
