My 60 lb German Shepherd ate a raisin last night. Probably 13 hours ago. She ate breakfast fine and drank water. Pee’d and pooped like normal.
Now she’s showing signs of nausea. Drooling, panting. I took her outside and she urinated three times in a row then had loose stool. Not diarrhea.
She’s doing a bit better now. Laying on her bed and drooling a bit. She ate a tablespoon of pumpkin for me.
Would one raisin cause poisoning in a large dog? Internet search says it takes 2.8g/kg.
Update - $375 vet visit to learn it was just gas.

Grapes are bad for dogs but not sure how many it takes to really harm them

Ive heard they are extremely toxic, as are olives and onions and sago palm trees.

Then he should become an English teacher, vote for Biden again, never marry and get a bunch more cats?

Sounds like you need to do a better job of raisin him

Sounds like your dog has the 'rona. Has she been wearing a mask?

They are but everything I’ve researched says they need to eat more than one. One story said a 10 lb terrier ate 11 and got sick. Mine is a large dog and ate one. And I’m certain it was only one.

If a single raisin can poison a dog...maybe that dog was on its last legs.
Probably is unrelated to a single damn raisin

I'd call my vet for re assurance.

rainsins can be very bad, but i dont know if 1 is enough to cause problems

Should be ok, but it wouldn't hurt to call your vet just in case.
They're not good for dogs, but I don't think they're as bad as sagos.

Let's do the math.
One raisin is about 0.5 grams. A 60 lb German shepherd is about 27 kg. The effective dose the dog consumed is about 1.8 mg/kg or roughly 650 times less than the predicted LOCE (Lowest observed concentration effect). In order to hit the 2.8 g/kg number the dog would have had to consume about 150 raisins.
However, the fact the dog is showing some symptoms is a reason to keep an eye on her.

Just like people, every dog is different in how they respond to such things. Keep her hydrated and keep offering pumpkin. How old is she?

I had a Boxer that had a real delicate stomach. If he got anything other than his regular food he would have to spend the day outside. He would crap like an Icee machine with such force you could hear it. Make sure she has plenty of water and keep an eye on her..

As others have said, grapes are toxic for dogs. I'm 99.9% certain that one raisin is not going to be fatal, but nausea and digestive problems are not surprising.
Just keep an eye on her and do what you normally would when she has an upset stomach. If things seem to worsen, talk to your vet.

Pro-pectalin if you can find it.
Pumpkin, if not. All natural, no additives. Don’t feed any dog food. Gradually add dry kibble back in once symptoms are gone.
Veterinarian if continues.
