Doesn’t this virus mostly affect smokers?

Every time I read about new deaths, I look for a common denominator. Most seem to be from some lung disease (smokers). The other underlying issues are related to lung disease. This virus is respiratory, so it leads to less oxygen which
I’m talking majority here. I know that others with autoimmune diseases, cancer, and other diseases that weaken your immune system also allow the virus to greatly impact your lungs. Older individuals falling in this category of weakened immune systems. If it’s an elderly person that used to smoke, that’s just asking for it.
But I see the high numbers in China, Italy, and Spain — all cultures with smoking being the norm.
I could be wrong, but there does seem to be a correlation here.

No. You don't have to be a smoker to have respiratory issues. Know anyone with asthma? They probably don't smoke.

It's not surprising that a disease primarily affecting the lungs would have an increase in morbidity and mortality in patients with pre-existing lung conditions such as COPD and Asthma.

The question is also “majority.” No shite that someone with asthma is along the same lines as someone that smokes for the sake of this argument. Both with lung disease/condition.

I was an 18 year old college swimmer when a respiratory infection took me off me feet and left me in the hospital for 10 days with a pnuemothorax. You in better pulmonary health than an 18 year old swimmer? I doubt it, doubt it.

Vape just once in your life and you can get the C-virus.
Does nobody remember that people were dying from vaping just months ago? Huge stories rolling out then nothing...but then a couple months later here’s a lung disease tormenting the world.

Many of the Docs on TV have been saying That among those at a higher risk for CV19 are anyone with compromised respiratory function such as smokers.
