Our dogs have a dog door and go in and out as they please. My biggest dog is on the couch next to me right now. Poor guy has a cough and was shaking earlier. Vet said to give him some Rimadyl and Benadryl and keep him comfortable. I’m going to crash on the couch with him just to keep an eye on him.

It's trashy. Don't get a dog unless you want to give it a good life. Even the pound keeps them inside.

That dog will always have a special place in my life because of that.

Lab. That was the yellow lab. We have a chocolate lab too

I love labs, obviously some breeds are smarter than others. That's a great, beautiful, and loyal breed.

Man they are awesome dogs. One of them growled at me once because I spanked one of my kids

Schnauzer lives inside and has a door. But stays outside most of the daytime unless it's really hot or cold. Kind of like me now that I think about it.

a three yr old irish setter was given to us, we tried to get her inside but she hates it, finally stopped trying to force the issue, we cover her up on cold nights ( she really seems to enjoy that) but she loves the outdoors and patrolling the neighborhood, shes in her element.

My dog sleeps in my bed.
You're a POS. It's one thing to leave the dog in the backyard during the day while the family is gone. Assuming its not freezing cold that is, leaving your dog out in the cold should get you put in jail.
And I get that most people dont let the dog sleep in bed like I do, and I understand why some people don't let dogs on the furniture, and why some dogs can't be left inside alone.
But there's no reason to just leave a dog outside 24/7 its whole life. Even if you have allergies and that's your excuse to not have it all over the house, you can at least bring it in overnight and let it sleep in the basement or garage or just curl up in some corner with an old blanket. Yes dogs are animals, but they aren't wild animals. Big difference in wild and domesticated animals. Just being able to sleep where its dry, shelter from the wind, its somewhat warm, and they can feel safe and protected from being attacked in the night isn't just the ethical and caring thing to do, that little bit of comfort will go a long way for the well being and overall physical and mental health of your best friend.

Both. Huskies outside and Maltese inside.

When we aren’t home he’s outside every time like a real American dog
Nowadays that is on par with child abuse, rape, and Nazis.
How dare you let your dog outside where he can breathe fresh air and chase squirrels to his delight.
He should be cooped up indoors where he can lay on the couch and watch tv like his worthless pos owners.

Doggie Door so it's their choice. Best invention ever.

I just gave my dog a ribeye and now he is sitting on my couch next to me watching entourage.

Wife had a Cocker Spaniel that stayed inside. We live in the country and our Golden Retriever lives outside.
She has a heated dog house with a Coolaroo bed and windows. She prefers to sleep on a wicker chair on the porch. On cold nights I drag her into my workshop.h
She loves chasing birds and the kids and barking at anything that does not belong. When the grandkids are at school she watches for the mail lady who brings her a treat every day.
Anything below waist level in my shop is fair game. If it is wood, it gets chewed. If it is plastic, it gets buried. The kids play fort is her lookout spot and she uses the slide. She a!so gives the best dog hugs.
Inside dog sits on the sofa and stares at the tv. Not sure which one has the better life.

Mine sleeps in the bed with me, the wife sleeps in a different room.

Aussies are very attuned to something being amiss. I was visiting my parents - in their late 80s at the time. My Aussie kept barking and gently but emphatically nipping at my hand. I finally went back to my parents room. My mom had fallen and dad had caught her and was holding on to her for dear life but they would have both hit the floor.

Of course he does.
He's a fricking dog.
People that treat animals like humans are the worst.
This place is full of these idiots.
