If they do take you, you're gonna get a baaaaad rating.
They can decline if they don't want to drive the distance, people that get bad ratings are those that ask for an uber to go two blocks.

Yeah if it’s just you the fare might sting a bit, but if it’s more than one of you, it’s not bad, especially if you’re at least into ascension parish.

My sister took one over 100 miles.

Depends. They go from the Nashville airport to Ft. Campbell for about $60.
That is at least that far.

yes
but you better off setting up a transfer half way so it doesnt cost too much
2 drivers going 30 miles one way is reasonable but one guy doing a 60 mile round trip is gonna rape you on the price since thats a tank of gas and 2+ hours out of his day

I've heard if a driver declines rides too often, they get kicked off the service.
Doesn't apply for the long drives.

But is there a way for a driver to setup to only get ride requests along a certain route?
You can set a destination twice a day on Uber, but their interpretation of what is "on your way" is a bit loose
I've had the destination set as downtown NOLA from the northshore before and gotten a trip to MSY. Not a huge deal as I had time to kill. Conversely, I had the northshore as a destination once and got a request at an office building right before the causeway. That person went to NOLA east, which for some dumb reaosn Uber's destination algorithm considered on my way.

Wut? There are flat booking fees and then it's time and mileage. One trip is going to be cheaper than a split one.

Need a ride to the airport in New Orleans
I took an Uber from BR to Metairie once. The driver said he does 2 or 3 of those runs a week...said he likes to drive like that instead of short runs.
When he arrived to pick me up I made sure he knew where I was headed before I got in the car.
It was the middle of the day, cost me about $90.

I have Ubered from LHR to Southampton (1.5ish hours) plenty of times. It’s about £125 before tip. Rating is like a 4.93 still.

quote:Yeah nevermind then. If I could pickup riders who were going in the same general direction as me across the causeway that would be about the only reason I'd ever consider signing up to drive for Uber or Lyft. The money ain't worth adding detours to MSY or NO East to my commute during rush hour traffic

people are much more willing to go 30 minutes out of their way and not get paid to drive back for free then to do it for an hour is what im suggesting
im also thinking they would charge less if they dont have to waste a full hour driving home for free
Posted on 1/28/20 at 2:49 pm to Tiger Prawn
It doesn't usually work out that way
But those are two that stand out in my memory.

You have no clue where you're going when you get the ride. And if I'm already getting taken way out of the city, I'd much rather get all the money for the entirety of the trip than only half.

DO you think Uber/Lyft drivers pick and choose prices for each trip?

If they get 30 mpg it's 2 gallons of gas or $4.25. A Tundra 4x4 double cab would use about 4-5 gallons of gas

I’ve had an Uber bring me to the New Orleans airport from about an hour away before so if you find a driver willing to they will take you.

You must drive really slow and have a hole in your gas tank. My car can go 450 miles on a tank of gas and I can do a 60 mile round trip in less than an hour, no problem.

This is where I don't understand how they make money without tips.
Typically on long trips like that they’ll stay in the city for a little while and make some extra cash and hope for someone heading back towards their place for the trip back.

quote:Back in my driving days I dropped someone off around 2:30am so things were winding down and I was ready to be done, still had the app on though just in case. Someone pings me and I accept, few seconds later he calls me and says he wants to let me know his destination will be the NOLA airport and seemed to anticipate that I'd turn him down, which I did. There wasn't a policy or anything, it just would've been shitty getting home at 5am and I would essentially be eating money on the drive back.
I took an uber from Nola to BR in the middle of the night one time. Most drivers wouldn't be cool with it I imagine but I lucked up and got a cool woman. Tipped her 50$.
Long story short, you bet your arse I'm voting in favor of a high speed train each time it's proposed.

And then work a deal straight up with the driver if you frequently need the trip.

I had an uber driver bring me from grand isle to Galveston before
ETA:also Sacramento to San Francisco
