I'm in Madisonville with rednecks to my west and yats to my east in Mandeville.
There are thousands of Chalmations that moved into Madisonville right after Katrina. Madisonville is full of yats.

There is a 100% difference. It's like plains v. river or something.

It's amazing to have so many different accents just in the city limits of NOLA.

Also, that “Coonass” portion going north up the river, like to Vidalia and Ferriday is not right at all.

Working class N.O. folks would say, “where ya at?” Hence, Y’at.

Mostly divided between urban and rural, with a smattering of “Creole” types here and there. It would be a different map.

When I was a kid ('81) my parents moved form the River Parishes to the Northshore (Mandeville). I had a pretty strong River Parish accent. Mandeville was still very country back then. A couple of my new friends at MSH asked me if I was from another country.

Way more rednecks in Calcasieu and Beauregard than anything else. Got some Redbones also.

I give it my stamp of approval.

Louisiana is a mixture of rednecks, hillbillies, coonasses, cajuns and just straight up white trash
Then there are 30k millionaires in Lafayette and the Northshore and the wannabes in Baton Rouge, the Bluebloods and Yats in Orleans, Jefferson and St Bernard
Lake Charles/Shreveport is Texan/Cowboys
