The next door neighbor to my in law's dog bit my daughter when she was three. While my mother in law was babysitting, my daughter went out on the front porch and began pulling on the dogs' ears as it slept. He snapped at her and got the side of her face.
I'm all for putting a bullet in an aggressive dog that bites a kid but sometimes the fault lies in the hands of an irresponsible adult. If my mother in law had actually been watching my kid, this doesn't happen.

Well, that depends. The dog might should die and the Vet might should pay up dearly.
If you keep a dog in your place of business, you pay the consequences when it bites someone. Screw the irresponsible Vet.

Thank you. Article also says dog was abused. Aren't they more likely to lash out than a well-treated dog?

Why the ridiculous overreaction? Heck, even make it a legally defined action that the dog is no longer allowed in the vet clinic unless it's for a medical purpose.
Problem solved. There's no reason to put the dog down in the case. This is just an unfortunate situation where the person at true fault has no responsibility whatsoever and the kid and dog are paying for that.

Dog was pestered and cornered by a tiny kid that didn't know better.
The family of the boy are suing the vet and trying to get the dog put down. That's ridiculous. If he was injured, make the vet pay for his shots and stitches. If he wasn't, move along.
The dog should be separated from now on from customers and the babysitter should choose a new profession.

regardless if the kid is being watched or not the vet is responsible for that animal being in his place of business.
no different than if you come to my house and you child is playing or beating my dog right next you and is bit, I as the home owner am responsible
