Didn't the babysitter say he was playing fetch with the dog? You don't think the vet has a vested interest in this not being the dogs fault?
Yeah, the babysitter has no stake at all...

You think the babysitter is on equal footing with the vet?

while the family of the boy deals with threats against them?

Sounds like the babysitter is an incompetent moron and let a shitty brat pester and corner the dog. Nice.

No, I think someone with a real job is more credible.

I have a hard time believing a dog that roamed around and lived in that office just suddenly attacked some brat unprovoked.
or maybe a VET shouldn't let an animal roam freely around a place where strangers come in and out of everyday.
people always say "oh he wont bite" well I have news you're idiot if you believe that, its not a matter of if but when.

A dog doesn't have to be in attack mode for its bite to harm a person, especially a 4 year old
Wait what?
What does this have to do with anything?
The kid threw stuff at the dog, the dog ran away, the kid followed the dog, the dog hid under a desk, the kid found the cornered dog and the dog reacted.
This is absurd. The parents should understand it was their little shite head's fault. I got popped by my neighbors black lab as a kid because I was trying to rough house with it and I yanked its tail really hard. I was like 5 and didn't know better.
My parents knew it was my fault.

Looks like it's got some pit in it, so I'm all good with it being a criminal

Someone who wasn't in the room when it happened? Gotcha.
Isn't there another witness backing up the babysitter?

Kind of the same way a babysitter should maybe watch the 4 year old child they are babysitting and not let him pay with a dog he doesn't know. Crazy concept.

Exactly

Did any of you read the article?
That's the vet's version of what happened, and he was in another room when it happened

Vets always have pets roaming. They shouldn't expect them to get pestered and cornered by a little kid.

I have a 4 year old and a dog
I side with the dog in this case. My 4 year old knows if he messes with the dog too much he will get snapped at. And he stops.
He also knows not to touch other dogs. Only dog he is allowed to pet is ours. Any strange dog he knows to not touch.

Did you? A personal injury lawyer is the one verifying the baby sitter's claim.

Also, why would anyone want this dog euthanized? Come the frick on. Overreact much? It was antagonized. Just separate it from the customers.

Of course.

first there are 2 very conflicting stories here.
1. that monster little kid cornered a black lab and started beating it with toys provoking the poor innocent dog to attack ..... MAYBE
2. the kid was being all sweet and playing fetch and the dog attacked un-provoked..... MAYBE
the truth probably lays in-between. Regardless the child is 4 and doesn't know any better and the dog probably did feel in some way threated or scared but that doesn't excuse the dog especially for it to tear the kids face up. if this was a nip on the hand ok move on but the bite cause some serious damage....
DOG must die.

Dannheisser said the boy’s family is “actively offering support to the Gartenbergs in reaching an appropriate agreement with the County seeking a means of the dog returned to them with assurances designed to protect against a repeat of this risk to others. I am optimistic that at the end of the day we will be successful.”
Translation: Scumbag personal injury lawyer is essentially extorting money to keep the dog alive.
