There going to need a few more billion once SWB pushes everyone with disposable income outside EBR.

I also see the pols want a huge some for "enhancements" (code name for slush fund) and for traffic synchronization which we have already been promised, but not delivered. This is another grab bag of money to funnel to some engineering firm, consultants and campaign donors.

We need to vote down any plan that creates these large flush funds, we need to have a review of GL1 as to what's left to go there, and we need to see if we can get federal dollars to do more of this work.

The devil is in the details.

This. Roads are one of the few things that all citizens agree they want improved, so politicians hold them hostage in order to convince taxpayers to hand over more of their money.

Not to mention the additional toll bridge that we may be asked to help pay for via taxes (in addition to private investment).

A multiparish project no doubt..but will impact Baton Rouge.

couldn't this be said about any road in the city with a turning lane? I can "see" plenty of scenarios being possible on any road

They will drag out the project and beg for more money.

Local gov has to put up something to receive a match from the feds for it.

From what I understand, it will be an elevated single point urban interchange or divergent diamond so it will be pretty expensive.

Getting Pecue 4-laned with an interchange should really help to improve traffic on Siegen and around Perkins @ Highland and I-10.

That's 88 million to widen roads through Central thanks to Livingston Parrish residents.

Yikes.

Maybe they can build a shopping area in Central to capture some of those sales taxes?

The Central Thruway combined with Hooper, Sullivan, and Magnolia Bridge Road is pretty much every major route in Central. I’d hope that Livingston eventually widens some of their routes too.

I imagine there is an indirect benefit for EBR that at least some of Livingston’s inevitable sprawl occurs on the northern part of the parish as opposed to farther and farther down I-12. Not sure if that’s worth $88 million, but the traffic problems created by those commuters are definitely being felt by EBR (Central) residents too.

I’d like to see a bridge crossing at Hooper Road eventually.

ETA: they are trying to time the lights on Greenwell Sprints and Choctaw in the city too. If so, that could be a good alternate route to I-12 or 190, and that probably makes the upgrades to roads in Central more justified.

We are going to use the money that would have gone to Silky Slim and hold weekly meetings at the Target/Siegen traffic light. Mayor Broome wants to use a few of those people on her de-transition and prayer teams.

I’m still convinced that she ends up indicted before leaving office.

Which means she’ll indirectly get St George off the ground.

The Pecue interchange will also connect Woman's Hospital with the other hospitals.

They cleared the land and built a big laydown area months ago. It looked like it was moving forward, but everything stopped. I haven't seen a worker out there in 6 months and grass has grown back on the cleared area.

It would be nice to have another exit there, but it's not necessary. A four lane flyover would work just as well.

Methinks some developers are pushing this deal.

Siegen should be reengineered. Left turns permitted only in certain places. Right turn lanes cut in, etc.

It was terribly designed.

The design is fine. It was overdeveloped.

There should have been more restrictions on what was built there. S Mall Drive and Rieger Rd should have connected to Pecue if they were going to build that much retail in one area.
