In my 4 years at LSU, I never once considered race as a reason to be friendly or treat someone differently. Then again I'm a privileged honkey so what do I know.

On the other hand, to play devil's advocate, growing up in New Orleans and spending a fair amount of time in Baton Rouge, a lot of the poor communities seem to be segregated and associated with being black, e.g. northern Baton Rouge and the projects in New Orleans.

At LSU? No.

However, there is a group that is in existence there that absolutely would love for there to be racial strife, and they work daily to find a "trigger" to start it.

They will be successful at some point. It is only a matter of time. When it starts, it will be ugly. LSU is ripe for the picking due to its history involving several key members of the Civil War.

I hate to post reddit stuff on here but someone posted something yesterday about the difference in racism between the north and south and I thought it was pretty great.

Long but good read.

This exactly. More people need to look at i this way. It's just like anything else getting attention in the media, it will eventually go away!

No more than anywhere. I'd argue what's there....its cultural, not racial though.

The blacks protesting.

I wonder how their entrance scores and grades compare to the rest of the student body. Better, worse?

The only problem I ever had was the ones who sit in Tigerland parking lot and wait for chicks to come out of the bars. They always wanted to harass the chicks and fight. Other than that, no ongoing problems

People who live in Bocage do not go shopping in Scotlandville. That's about the extent of it.

Throughout my life, the only problem with races I've ever seen is with thugs, and that is justified. At the same time, those same people have a problem with bums and meth heads.

I was talking to my mom about driving through a bad neighborhood in New Orleans a few months back, and she said she'd rather go the long way around it so she didn't get robbed and killed. I jokingly told her that was racist, and her response was, "That doesn't make it any less true".

Even the people that would be considered racist by the rest of the country really aren't. They just have a problem with all people of that lifestyle
