I find it ironic that the KY Jelly folks do not use gay men to advertise their products on TV or printed media. Where is the truth in advertising?

Sor'ta like pictures of Wendys hamburgers in commercials - totally false presentation.

My qualifications for purchasing product are, do I want it/need it? does it fit my budget? beyond that I could not care less who endorses the product, what their agenda is, or if they vaccinate their kids. I don't understand people who let other peoples views and actions dictate what they do with their money. who the frick has time for that?

When so many commercials present the abnormal as normal, there is a problem.
You see, normal people don't think this way. Normal people don't refer to scenarios that are relatively rare as "abnormal". The word "abnormal" has connotations that something is troubling. The real problem is that some people think there is a problem.

"Sinister" . I have yet to see anyone explain what there is to be gained by promoting this "sinister agenda".

Reading through the thread a bit. Why do people hate interracial couples so much.

They don't necessarily hate them. They're apparently just afraid that IR and gay couples on TV are going to turn their kids gay or give them jungle fever. They're also apparently afraid that these commercials are less about making money and more about promoting the truly awful ideals of equality, inclusivity, and tolerance, and that these ideals combined with no desire to make money signal the downfall of capitalism and our nation as we know it.

I've definitely noticed that some groups are over-represented and have rolled my eyes at all the 'white burglar' commercials but it doesn't influence my purchasing. I don't usually pay much attention to them at all unless they're funny.

Don't care much unless it is egregious sjw type of propoganda. Commercials on the whole are annoying.

You sound like a rational thinking person. :sarcasm:

I don't really pay that much attention to commercials, but I can honestly say I have never seen a commercial and thought to myself "I can't believe they put this in a commercial. I will never do business with them".

And what is this bullshite about "they are trying to push a political agenda"? Okay, either way, I can think for myself and my political views will not change based on something I seen in a commercial.

With that said, how many of you listen to talk radio shows that have an agenda? If I had to guess, I bet those talk radio show host are the ones feeding you bullshite about how commercials have a political agenda.

I think it has more to with PC than an actual political agenda.

I mean I admit I don't go to every business in every city in every state on a regular basis, but I have yet to walk into a restaurant and pass a table frequented by every race/demographic known to man.

I'm not really the boycott type either for the most part. I will admit that I no longer shop in Dick's Sporting Goods because of their stance on some issues. I'll give Academy my money.

If there wasn't a better/comparable alternative I'd probably still go though.

Not everything in the world has some political agenda trying to make YOU become a "liberal". It's called marketing.

Its called TARGET marketing. Advertisers don't just throw money out there in the wind. ALL ads are geared towards a specific demographic.
quote:

If you see a commercial in which everyone is completely different from you. In other words, it has no white people in it, it might have a few people you would assume is gay, etc.. Would you identify with that product?

The ads are geared towards the demographic of the TV show's viewers featured on THAT channel. So, if my TV is on the BRAVO channel, then I expect to see some gay ads. If my TV is on BET channel, then I expect to see some interracial ads.
quote:

An interracial couple in a commercial is saying "this is a product that is for everyone".

No. It is saying this is a product for the BET viewers. It is 100% ALL about target marketing.

When I'm watching a Supercross race on NBCSN (COX 105), do you think it's a coincidence that the ads are showing the 2019 dirt bikes or latest racing gear??
