Typical WalMart experience:
Sit in shitty traffic down Lee/College until I'm there. Dodge the 900 shopping carts all over the parking lot taking up spaces. Park far away. See weave and a diaper on the ground walking in. Sometimes no carts even in the cart bin. Also, if you don't buy a ton of stuff, there's no small cart or carry basket option. So every single person in the store is pushing a damn minivan around. Dodge the white trash and hoodrat traffic jam at the entrance/exit (why are there always people just standing there??). Play Frogger trying to get through the store with your massive cart and everyone else's. Usually see at least a few items people decided they didn't want shoved into random shelves every single time I go. Head to check out and wait behind 5+ people who seem to be doing their shopping for the entire month, many times with multiple kids grabbing candy and running back and forth. Get checked out by someone who would rather be stabbed in the eyeballs than spend another minute doing their job. Back to the trash filled parking lot where there's a cart left against your vehicle. Load up and sit in more traffic to go home.
Typical Robert experience:
Cut through my neighborhood nearly half of the drive there because it runs so much towards it. Have no issue getting on Highland. Take an easy turn into the lot. Never parked anything farther than the 2nd spot in my life. No signs of trash in the lot, and the carts are collected almost immediately. There's large carts, small carts, and carry baskets available. The deli/meat/etc people are so nice and ready to help. You have whole aisles to yourself most of the time. Never behind more than 1 person in line and even then, someone jumps to take you on another register. Quickly checked out and out the door, where its an easy right turn drive home in less than 2 minutes.

quote:True but like others have said, it's worth the $5 or $10 difference for me to skip the place altogether. Just personal preference.
They are cheaper on almost everything else though.

I find Walmart meat to be just as expensive and often more so than a local AG store,
Little different for me, but my local AG store has Walmart smoked on alcohol prices, which is something I don't understand.

And it's even worse on the 1st or 15th. I call on one in South Dallas and it's identical to your story about that one on college. On the 1st or 15th, the money services line is backed way up with people cashing their checks then going out to buy everything they couldn't afford over the last week or two.
I've found countless chicken bones, empty drink cans, empty wrappers, etc hidden behind my wine bottles. I dread going into that store because the set is like 16 feet with all basic value wines. There's like 2 bottles I would actually suggest to someone as a bottle I would drink.
Calling on Walmarts is definitely a big factor in why I stopped shopping there over the last few years.

I love all the weird Walmart fans who subtlety downvote any threads that shite on it.

My secretary does all the time. She loves it. Only thing she isn't crazy about is when they substitute because the exact product she wanted isn't available.

We don't buy meat or produce from Walmart.
Why? I don’t know about meats but the produce you get at Walmart is the same as the produce from anywhere else. They’re all buying from the same people.

But they aren't.
We didn't share a single supplier with Walmart.

Because we don't ever really go into Walmart and like to pick it ourselves. We only started using Walmart again when they started the curbside pickup.

Wife uses it weekly for grocery pick-up. Orders online and they send a text when it’s ready. Make her life easier by keeping the 14 month old in the car seat instead of taking him into the store.

I bet you got your apples from the Yakima Orchards in Washington state. And all your local squash and sweet potatoes from Liuzza farms.
Almost all of the apples sold nationwide come from the same orchards in Washington state. Almost all non-local strawberries come from a few farms in California. Almost all tomatoes during winter will be from Mexico. During peak season in the middle of summer they will usually be local. Tropical fruits like Pineapples, Papayas, Mangos, and Plantains, and bananas will almost always come from Mexico or Central America.

I don't remember, but we didn't source anything from Louisiana. Local was to Texas and we did have a lot of Texas stuff. We sourced a lot from Mexico.

I use it occasionally for work when getting a bunch of cases of drinks.
Never used it for personal use. I like to pick out my meat and produce and don't mind grocery shopping.

I buy diapers and formula there monthly.
Amazon does open box diapers that are a good discount. Basically the box was opened/damaged, but all the diapers are fine and still in the plastic wrap.
Subscribe and save on formula also saves us a lot.
Just in case you haven't check those out.

It saves me or my wife about an hour and we get to pay Walmart prices without having to go in one.
exactly. Plus we have a 4 year old so add that to it and the curbside pick up is a no brainer

We used Similac for a few months, but eventually went to the Walmart and Target in house brands without any issues. Absurdly less expensive.

I blew up today. The piss arse Walmart here sucks. After you check out, going out the door, there is someone checking your stuff to match you recite. You have to wait in a dam line to do this.
Flat out told the woman that I am on my time, NOT hers.

Haven't been in one in about 6 years. Prior to that I had about a 3 or 4 year streak going.
There will only be less of a reason to go to an actual Walmart in the future. Not more.
