It feels like in the 90s I saw one of these in every car. What happened to them?

With chip technology, I think cars are more difficult to steal now.

People quit using them when thieves learned to spray them with Freon, hit them with a hammer, and watch them shatter. The extreme cold makes them brittle.

You still hear about stolen cars. Supposedly for cars with push starts and fobs the signal can be extended/interfered and used to start cars

Quickly becoming untrue. Makes them much easier to steal.

Because you need the actual key to the car with immobilizers and push button start electronic steering that locks the car wheel

If you are just going to be able to get the key to the car what does it even matter if you put a separate easily disabled steering wheel lock? More of a pain in the arse to the owner.

Don't be a poor and get comprehensive coverage for a few bucks and dont worry about it.

Most new cars don't even have steering wheel locks in the column because they are secured with a chip on the key or fob.

You were still downvoted by someone that doesn't know that.

Anytime I’m parking anywhere near a convent I remove my coil and my rotor cap & plug wires.

Bitches be crayzee.

While effective, those things were just a pain in the arse to deal with. Frankly, most people won’t go through that much trouble every time they park and every time they get ready to go somewhere.
