I don't do granny knots.

No, I had lasik a few years ago so I'm good.

It looks like one is tilted a little but I don't see much difference in the knots themselves.

Look at how the loops lie.

When the loops run vertically you've done it wrong.

They should lie horizontally.

It has to do with which lace goes over the other in the initial move, and then which lace goes around the other in the second move.

any ideas as long as we are on this thought pattern?

Lace them in a pattern so that the lace comes out on the inside of the top hole, all while keeping the laces tight around your foot. Then run the lace down under the insert. I put a small knot so the laces always stay in place.

Tennis shoes are just regular laced.

Yep.

There is a Ted talk about a guy showing you how to tie your shoes with a "strong" knot and a "weak" knot.

Long story short, if tie your shoes with a reef knot, there is not need to double knot them or do anything else with the laces, they're simply not coming undone on their own.

That tilt caused my show laces to rub on my shin and tickle me. This bothered me all my adult life until one day I discovered how to properly tie shoes. My life has improved dramatically.

The tilt is not a joke.

Gawd those shoes look uncomfortable as hell......what are dress shoes? LOL

Only shoes I own with laces are athletic, boat or fishing.

Because his fricking shoes were untied. I don't give a shite that you feel too insecure to tell a child his fricking shoes are untied. Mature the frick up and stop making every damn thing an issue.
