Take a deep breath and hold it as long as you can. If and when you next hiccup, do it again. Repeat until it stops. Usually max 4 or 5 times for me. Everyone is different though.

Take 17 very small sips of water without taking a breath and then hold your breath till the hiccups are gone.

Put some water in your mouth while standing and bend over at your waist so your head is down. Swallow the water while you’re bent over. It works for my kids almost every time.

Take a deep breath and silently say to yourself, "go away." This might take awhile, but do it after every hiccup and eventually it will work. When it works you will never have more than two hiccups in a row for the rest of your life as long as you continue to take a deep breath and say, go away after each hiccup. It has worked for me for over 50 years and for my friends as well.

I know this sounds a little crazy, but try drinking a glass of water through a paper towel over the top. 60% of the time, it works every time

Spoonful of sugar. I'm not going to take the time to explain the chemistry & physiology . Just try it and if it doesn't work, you're out a spoonful of sugar. But it probably will work.

This will sound odd but a spoon full of sugar will get rid of it.

The solution is so simple but most people have trouble following the directions.

Inhale fully and hold it, for close to as long as possible (don’t kill yourself), exhale fully and hold. Doing some slight crunches while holding helps too.
Repeat.
If done right you’ll rarely have to do more than 2-3 times.

You have to swallow the hiccup.

Breathe in deeply and hold your breath for a long time, then exhale slowly all the way out. Breathe in deeply again, hold your breath again, exhale slowly again. I think the trick is in the slow exhale which people never do in conjunction with the breath-holding. My 2 cents!

If you don’t have any success with the options already posted, this solution works 100% of the time. Seriously, put a couple of fingers down your throat like you want to force yourself to throw up. It just takes 2 or 3 gag reflexes/dry heaves and they are gone. I learned this many years ago in college when I was drunk as shite and couldn’t get rid of the hiccups. I was actually trying to make myself throw up. Something about opening up your esophagus. Dunno but the shite works.

Could be caused by a med you’re taking. Are you on any corticosteroids?

In October, 2005, I attempted to celebrate my 20th anniversary by taking a cruise with my wife. That would have been a good plan, if not for having the hiccups for 5 straight days, and the ship's infirmary having nothing to treat them. When we finally docked in the Bahamas, I spent one day in a walk-in clinic getting a prescription for Baclofen (sp?).

So if all else fails, see a doctor or PA for some Baclofen. It relaxes the diaphragm and allows your hiccups to finally dissipate.

Now I try to keep some on hand, and if I've gone a few hours with sugar, drinking water, breath holding, etc, not working, I'll take two pills or tablets and they go away within an hour.
