While I agree that unions do tend to protect 'bad' workers i do like the fact that my vacation is protected. I like that I don't have to work several 20 hours days in a row or the person im working with doesn't have to, so the chance of one of us getting hurt because of lack of sleep is slim. Some industries probably don't need to be unionized.... but to claim that they aren't needed is simply ignorant.

Here's someone who has swallowed union propaganda. Most companies are not unionized. Are you telling me that those hundreds of millions are being dogged?

You are ignorant. My company has a 6 month probation where the worker is not protected by the union. The employee is at the mercy of the company and can be forced to work an insane amount of hours without sleep. If the employee is caught sleeping they can be fired.

If you worked for say UPS would you want to be forced to work 20-24 hours in a hub? Then be told you have to be back at work in 4 hours to start another shift? What about being a truck driver? Would you want a driver to be on the road for 18+ hours?

If you don't think a company would do that i have some wonderful oceanfront property in Oklahoma to sell you.

They hate unions while enjoying the fruits of battles they fought.

Weekends

Fair Wages (hmmm, decline in unions, stagnant wages....nah, no correlation)

Child labor

Employer Healthcare (I fundamentally hate employer healthcare)

FMLA (can’t wait for this conservative, pro family board rails against this)

Which non-union company is doing this?

The vast majority of companies are non-union. Where's this forced over-working occurring?

This.

Ups has a history of firing women for being pregnant.

I went a whole year without health insurance at ups.

Well I told you my company does this until workers are under union protection. They would continue to do this if not for union protection. They would work short and or not hire.

One company. Which company? What is over-worked? My friends in the postal service hate the union because it protects the losers and causes them to have to take extra routes.

This is equivalent to saying American citizens don't need guns anymore because we are no longer oppressed by the British. You don't know what's around the corner.

Along the same vein, I sure wish my generation, and every one since, had real company retirement packages like my parents have.

Wait you support unions when it involves your tax dollars paying for them, but not when the free market is paying? WTF

Public sector unions should be outlawed and all states should be right to work. Nobody should be forced to be in a union or forced to hire union workers, but they should also be free to do so if they want to. But I will be damned if public sector employees should be able to create or join a union.
