I've been following this UAW/GM shite and it makes my blood boil. There was a time in America when these unions were needed, but I'm not sure anymore. (Exceptions being Police, Firefighters, etc.) Just curious if anyone has gone to the extreme of buying non union items.

But all of my shite is made overseas and I'm pretty sure there are no labor unions in China

It really shouldn't get you that worked up.

Off topic, but where did the word “scabs” come from? Is there a particular reason they chose that word?

So will your action include not sending your child to school because of unionized teachers? Refusing to order anything online because of unionized UPS / FedEx drivers? Refusing to buy anything that involves any raw goods ever transported by train? Etc.

UPS is union, not sure about Fed Ex. This is the OT. Private School bruh. I'm not saying everything you buy be union Free, but do you consider it when purchasing goods?

My point was, there’s very little in your life that unionized labor doesn’t touch. How do you think goods get off a ship? You’ll make a stand of not buying something that doesn’t affect you greatly.

To reply to your edit, no I don’t consider it. If workers choose to send a healthy portion of their paychecks to someone they feel is representing them, then that’s their choice.

Union Cops too; unless you don't support police officers

Teamsters driving across the country and working on movies, sports, TV....

Again, read the OP. Simply asking a question.

I'm simply replying that you have picked an arbitrary line to stand on.

What does manufacturing have to do with it?

If someone wants to join a club because they feel it is better for their well being then I will not stand in the way or punish them for that decision.

I'm likely more apt to buy something made by a union worker because at the very least union jobs generally pay enough for the worker to raise a family.

But I really don't pay attention to it.

UAW Local 862.

You aren't allowed to park "foreign" vehicles in the front parking lot of the union hall.

I don't really consider unions politics. I consider elected positions politics, not a bunch of overpaid crybabies who are afraid to talk to their own boss and have to let other people do it for them.

It would be almost impossible to know for sure what you're buying doesn't touch a union somehow.
