Most degrees don’t translate well to here at all, and let’s admit that unless you majored in engineering, p-tech, medical, or went to law school; you really don’t have much of a demand. The schools are horrible everywhere in the state, and everyone has to pay private school tuition. Also, we’re in the bottom 5 for median household income, yet Louisiana’s COL is somewhere in the 20’s. That doesn’t make sense. I know this thread specifically said BR, but BR seems to go as the state goes so the two are really one and the same.
I think that's the reason why so many in Louisiana eventually move to Houston, not to mention much cheaper and don't have to spend a boat load on private school. TX economy is much more diverse and can cater to many different fields.

But why? I know it’s your opinion I get that. LC and Lafayette are decent but get boring very fast. LC is closer to Houston & has nice casinos so there’s that. But Lafayette? I don’t see the appeal there. Seems like BR has more things to do and is closer to better hunting & fishing. Also it’s closer to Nola for the variety of entertainment they have.

I don't mind it.
If I had to raise children in BR, I would've been lone gone.

Lafayette has a better food scene but BR has improved the last couple of years, they are equally close to good hunting and fishing,
Lafayette has better public schools and the city govt is way better
Compare BR to similar state capitals in the south and it’s midde of the pack
Austin and Nashville >>> Columbia > BR, Tallahassee, Little Rock>>>Montgomery and Jackson

I enjoy high taxes, corrupt politicans, high crime, crappy schools, poor employment opportunities, and a lot of traffic. I plan on living in BR until I die or get murdered
