No, I have 2 GSDs and a pitbull mix. If they were quiet when I got out of the car, then I'd know something was wrong

Pretty fricking insulting insinuation to be accused of being a Fed boy.

Why would you leave a gun in the car?

Someone who could get the jump on an armed man and taking his gun away from him is most likely not going to have a problem figuring out how to get the safety off on your gun

In answer to your OP. We set an alarm when we are gone, it lets you know if an intruder gets inside your home

I got into a habit of clearing my place when I come home at night. Nothing dramatic, but I do have a gun off safety and out and ready to use. If I left a gun in a car, I have a mace or a knife out, just in case.

Man, I'm a US Marshal and I don't even do this shite

That's some serious security/alarm system.

I probably wouldn't give AF either if I had three friends guarding the castle like you got. Very cool.

Carrying groceries, talking on the phone, or just forgot.
I will often leave rifles in the truck, it's a safe area.

Maybe just move out of New Orleans and you won't have to search your house armed.

Fear no, but being at least somewhat prepared for something bad and unlikely, yes.

I definitely don't experience adrenaline when coming into my house. There's no elevated heart rate, etc...It's just a habit, routine so I have a peace of mind my house is safe.

It sounds like it causes enough anxiety that it affects your behavior, especially if the routine eases your mind, rather than the completely remote chance that someone would be lay waiting for you when you come home.

I throw a stun grenade in the front door before entering. My dogs are deaf now and I'm tired of the constant painting, but I've never been murdered.

I used to never bat an eye entering my home either, but here I am.

Hence the whole clearing of the house scenario

what makes you think there is someone waiting days or hours in your house to ambush you when you get home. It would be much easier to ambush someone as they were leaving the house.

you missed this gem

quote:

if something seems a little off I'll walk to where I keep an AR-15 leaning against the wall and make sure it's still there. Figure if someone's in my home the first thing they're going to do is grab that.

Nah. I have an alarm. And it dials 911

And by dial 911.. I mean it wakes me up and then me and Mr Sig comes to teach a joint class of property rights and how much it pisses me off to be woke up in the middle of the night by a scumbag.
