Here is an article put out 6 hrs ago.
Jim Cramer says he believes Trump is looking to crack down on silicon valley because he sees them as a political opponent.
It explains why he would go after each company he is going after.

As long as they don't get rid of net neutrality the internet will be just fine.

The thing for me is that people literally have the choice not to use these services, don't like Google? There's bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and a host of others. Don't like Twitter? There's plenty of other social media sites.
The majority of the world's most trafficked sites are created with WordPress and utilize AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for hosting. It's not about their search engine.

If they are controlling content, esp Political content, and silencing one side, and manipulating searches, then yes... If they allow all sides an even debate, and content, then no....

Google and Amazon have become incredibly large and offer far more services outside of just their search engines. If there is any sort of competition to any of their services they will simply buy that startup company and become even bigger. Microsoft is an outside contender with cloud services but they employing the same strategy as Amazon and Google where they are buying up competing technology.
What will come of this? I have no idea but I hope the government doesn't become heavy handed in their approach because there is a lot of really good things that have cropped up in the past 5 years for Tech. As far as Facebook goes they can straight to H-E double hockey sticks.

They all sell online advertising--how could they have monopolies?

verybody is concerned about privacy--that is all BS. There is nothing about you on Facebook that you didn't put there.
Actually there is quite a bit they mine from you without your direct knowledge, just like google and the others

So companies should be told by the government, what they should and shouldn't provide? You think companies should have to bake a cake for a gay wedding even if they oppose gay weddings?

They're private companies. They should be allowed to do as they see fit.
If they want to create a market opening for conservative social media, so be it.

Sounds like competition is alive and well in the cloud space, no?

Exactly. It's no different than CNN and Fox.

That’s fine when the decisions they are making are in view of the public.
Shadow banning and deranking aren’t and could easily impact elections given the reach of any one of Twitter/FB/YouTube.

And none of them can break into the Asia market since AliBaba Cloud is dominating that market.

Facebook knows less about you than any of the credit agencies that freely sell their information. If you allow them to track you they know you went to Sonic---so what. The credit agency knows your bank account balance, your home price, your SS number, your every credit use, the number in your household, your work history, on and on and they sell it every do da day.

A countries' economy is reliant on the Technology it is able to produce, look at China for example, their growth is due to their recent surge in Tech. China is creating a billionaire every 2 weeks and its simply due to their Tech.

All I know is that if left alone, in about 10 years 90% of your life will be controlled somehow by 3-4 companies including Google and Amazon. Not just online where they are already in control, they are moving into healthcare, communications, insurance, groceries, automobiles, friggin space travel! Do you really want Jeff Bezos or some anonymous board of directors that much in control of your life? With no competition? And don’t forget these are multinational companies and there are a lot more consumers in China - just wait till these companies start to prioritize the Asian market. Enjoy being a global 2nd citizen.

Anti trust laws exist for a reason

False. Facebook's data collection is more sophisticated than simply recording your favorite bands and puppies, and they've been caught selling data for reasons other than those described in the user agreement.
