Does anyone care about mainstream movies at this point?

Even pre Covid, which recent movies were you excited to go see? Hollywood is truly dead, you’re more likely to find an independently made BS movie on Hulu, Netflix or something else that is better than anything mainstream Hollywood production. Hollywood sold out in every possible way and no amount of liberal pandering will bring it back. Thoughts?

I would go see a movie maybe once a year. Movies are dead since Amazon/Netflix will give any jackass with a camera 6 figures.

I’m trying to decide if this thread will get moved to the Movie Board or the Political Talk.

I haven't gone to go see a movie in person since Star Wars the Last Jedi which sucked arse.

Movies suck these days. It's all boom or bust, there are no "mid tier" movies anymore. Everything has to be a big budget blockbuster now.

Besides you are directly funding the Hollywood pedophile and drug rings if you go to them.

Nope, they have zero creativity and just do remakes at this point. I am pulling for a total Hollywood collapse where all of the idiots in the industry have to file for bankruptcy.

I'm not interested in movies based on comic books nor movies based on CGI car chases. That eliminates most of them..

As much as I hate the liberal pandering, I don't think it has to do with that....modern movies just suck. I feel like pre-COVID the only things I saw hyped up were the same damn super hero things. I can't remember the last time I got a preview and got excited....on the flip side I've found random movies, docs and series on netflix that have been some of the best stuff I've watched, and I watched them on my couch with my bourbon. Let theatres close....I won't miss em

They dont make kids movies anymore... Sandlot, Mighty Ducks, 3 Ninjas, Flipper, those types of movies are extinct.

They don't suck. Back in the day you had to go to a theater to see a movie. It was more of an event. Now we have easy access and it takes away from the experience.

Welcome to how I find all of the media I like. I've never felt like the mainstream output of Hollywood or the music industry appealed to me. I've always had to hunt for the movies and music and books that interested me.

They used to call looking for and enjoying esoteric and non-mainstream media being a "hipster."

I prefer independent movies. Can’t say I’ve liked a mainstream movie in years

I only watch movies with strong white female leads who irrationally develop all their skills without practice exactly when they need them and surround themselves with big polite gentle black men who protect them from the weasely old white guy villains.

I won't watch anything else and demand Hollywood produce this type of movies exclusively.

Now would be a good time to do home theater consulting and build. Seems like all new movies are released in theaters and on some steaming service simultaneously.
