I keep 15 gallons all the time, but I do use it regularly and replace it. I don't think you want to store gas for more than 60 days.

I got sucked in to the generator frenzy. Oh we have to have it for the fridgerator. I haven't even tried to start it in 6 or 7 years. I could have bought everything in my fridge 20 times for the amount I paid for that generator

Buy non ethanol.
Forget the stabilizer.

My generator runs on the same gas as my lawn mower....so yes

I have an 80 gallon drum that I fill up every year around when hurricane season starts. Put some stabil in it and hope I don’t need it. If not used I pump it into the vehicles some time in November. Been doing it for years. I will never get caught needing gas like I did after Gustav. I was without power for 7 days. The generator I had back then was only big enough to run very few items. A window unit in the bedroom, fridge, freezer and some lights and ceiling fans. Being able to sleep in AC is a must for me. Gas was a bitch to find because the stations didn’t have power to run the pumps. The ones that were able to pump gas were only taking cash for payments. I always have a stash of gas and cash now

The generator at our home growing up was attached to a gas line and would automatically kick on if the power went out. So no.

I look at entire home natural gas generators the same way. I can take a hell of a vacation for what those things costs

I switched my generator to run on natural gas. It was well worth it.

That might work for diesel but even E0 unleaded gasoline will varnish and turn into crap you don't want to run in a small engine. I use Stabil Marine or 360 in every can of gas, especially for 2-stroke mix, and never have issues. Invest in good fuel cans (Just-rite, Eagle, No-Spill), good gasoline, and a little stabilizer and you'll never have fuel-related small engine problems.

A can or two? LOL. I keep a minimum of 50 gallons on hand at all times.
