It does for me, and I try to buy American when I am aware that it is made in America.

For example, I recently bought tennis shoes made by Freedom Industries --- Made in the USA --- and they are the best pair of tennis shoes I have ever purchased.

But sadly, like most things today, many of the items I purchase online are made outside of the USA.

I can’t say I’ve ever based a purchase on that.

I tried to with my scopes.

Found out Burris was an American company, owned by an Italian parent company, using Chinese glass in its optics.

Which explains why I could afford it.

yep. Every last single one of us.

One thing I try my best to do is buy local. Whether it be local beef, local produce, local made products, or China made products - I try to buy from a mom and pop store. I think that's about the best we can do is try and keep the money on cheap made foreign shite in circulation locally, because as soon as it's spent at a big box brick and mortar, it's gone from the local economy.

Like why would a Louisiana baw bother getting a POS Ford or Jeep when it’s just as foreign to south Louisiana as Toyota?

Buy these instead:

Nissan Titan (Mississippi)
Toyota Tundra (Texas)
Tesla Cybertruck (Texas)
Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon (Texas)
Hyundai Sonata (Alabama)

Those are all made more local and frankly the quality is better.

It doesn’t mean what it used to. I do buy some local stuff I KNOW is made here.

City, or even State would matter to me.

Nation? Nah. Woke corporations want me to pay more to buy their equally machine-built components.

Ever since covid, it resonates more, but I try to do research into not only is it truly made in America (not just assembled with global parts - looking at you dewalt) but also who owns the company.

ETA: I think I’m really more anti made in china than anything.

Now that's what really matters, IMO, and goes far beyond consumer goods. Local education. Local government voting. Local community involvement and investment.

National politics is a joke. Live w a local mindset and make a difference. Especially if you're rural or in an area where shitting on a sidewalk or having to worry about a Rupaul reading to kids at your county library isn't common. Perspective and local reality counts, no matter how many times Stout posts about fricking Portland

Depends what I am buying. If I need a cheap item, I know that is made overseas and don’t even bother looking at where it is made. On the other hand, if I am looking to make a larger purchase like a major appliance or an automobile, I buy nothing but domestically made products.

Often “American made” can simply mean “American assembled” and you’re buying stuff made from the same, cheap Chinese materials as stuff you can buy on Temu.

Absolutely not. Made in America and American Made etc are the most stringent country of origin "stamp" the world. using those phrases and a few other variations when the product is not "all or virtually all" of US origin will have the FTC come down like a ton of bricks on a company. The qualified claims like you mentioned like "American Made from US and foreign parts" has to be present and clear anywhere that a claim of American Made is present. You have to also be careful of using US flags or "maps" of the US without clear qualifications near the image.

The FTC doesn't play when they are alerted I have seen them hammer F500 companies and Mom and Pops.

Oddly enough a company called "Made in America Inc." can sell fully foreign-made goods with impunity as long as they properly label the country of origin.

Almost never. It’s usually 3x the price and still shite.

Trust me, not breaking balls but give an example of an appliance you're referring to. A domestic product you've found that doesn't include foreign components

No. I do not put a priority on American made. I try to put a priority on quality made regardless of where it was made.

I don't think people care as long as they get what they want at the best cost. People talk shite about china but the truth is that we're all addicted to what they make. Just go to a any big box store...walmart, target, Home Depot. It's 95% china made.
